14、 6.2), the supplier shall furnish a sample for first article inspection and approval (see 4.2 and 6.3). 3.2 Materials. Materials not definitely specified shall be of the quality normally used for the purpose in commercial practical. 3.2.1 Plywood. Plywood used for the tabletop and battens shall be e
15、xterior type, grade A-B, sanded two sides, conforming to group 1 of Product Standard PS 1. 3.2.2 Aluminum and steel angles and shapes. 3.2.2.1 Aluminum angles. Aluminum angles shall be fabricated of alloy 3003 conforming to the requirements of ASTM B209. 3.2.2.2 Steel, bar size shapes. Bar size shap
16、es shall conform to ASTM A575 or if formed from steel sheet or strip shall conform to QQ-S-698. 3.2.3 Hardware. Nuts and bolts, wing nuts, wood screws, washers, rivets, and cotter pins shall be standard commercial products, fabricated from steel and except for wood screws shall be zinc plated. 3.2.4
17、 Enamel. Enamel shall be a combination of air-drying and baking enamel that provides a smooth, semigloss, possessing excellent corrosion-inhibiting properties. The color shall be olive drab 24084 conforming to FED-STD-595. 3.2.5 Varnish, spar. Spar varnish shall conform to the requirements of MPI #
18、28. 3.2.6 Adhesive. Adhesive shall be urea-resin-type conforming to ASTM D4690. 3.3 Construction. The construction of all components and assemblies of the item covered by this specification shall conform to requirements herein and the design, details, dimensions, material classification and sizes sp
19、ecified on Drawing 5-13-2498. 3.3.1 Top. The top shall be plywood specified in 3.2.1 and sanded smooth. 3.3.1.1 Reinforcing and edging. The top shall be reinforced with steel angles specified in 3.2.2.2 and securely held to plywood top with wood screws. All edges of top shall be protected with alumi
20、num angles specified in 3.2.2.1, and securely held to plywood top with wood screws. 3.3.2 Battens. The battens shall be plywood specified in 3.2.1 and with all sides and edges sanded smooth. Battens shall be fastened to plywood top with adhesive specified in 3.2.6 and securely held in place with woo
21、d screws. 3.3.3 Hinges. Angles and channels forming hinges shall be firmly bolted through the battens and the top with 3/8-inch carriage bolts, countersunk into the top and the nuts tightly drawn against lock washers. 3.3.4 Legs end braces. The legs, stretchers and braces shall be formed from the st
22、eel sheet or strip specified in 3.2.2.2. 3.3.5 Finish. 3.3.5.1 Plywood. All exposed surfaces of plywood parts shall be cleaned of all dust and dirt. Exposed plywood shall be coated with spar varnish as specified in 3.2.5, before assembly and with a sufficient number of coats to produce a uniformly g

All metal surfaces, except aluminum angles and the heads of carriage bolts, shall be prepared for painting according to type I or II of TT-C-490, and shal
24、l be coated with enamel specified in 3.2.4. 3.4 Marking for identification. Marking for identification of the tables shall be on the underside of the top and shall be in accordance with the requirements of MIL-STD-130. 3.5 Workmanship. Tables shall be free from defects such as fractures, splits, pun
25、ctures, or dents. There shall be no sharp edges, slivers, burrs, or projections. 3.5.1 Application of finish, The finish applied to the end item shall be continuous, smooth, adherent without discoloration or foreign material imbedded and contains no sags, runs, drips, creeps, laps, bubbles, streaks,
26、 wrinkles, blisters, cracks, scratches, pores, pits, lumps, flux, or orange peel. No rust, rough grinds or tool marks shall show through the coating. 3.5.2 Welding. All surfaces of parts to be welded shall be clean. Welding shall be accomplished in a manner which will prevent the occurrence of burn
27、holes, cracks, fractures or incomplete fusion. All scale and flux deposits shall be removed from finished welds. 3.5.3 Bolts, nuts, screws, studs, and other threaded fasteners. Threaded fasteners shall not be broken, stripped, fractured, or loose. 4. VERIFICATION 4.1 Classification of inspections. T
28、he inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. First article inspection (see 4.2) b. Conformance inspection (see 4.3) 4.2 First article inspection. When a first article is required, it shall be examined for defects listed in table II and specified dimensions. The presence
29、of any visual defect, any dimension not within specified requirements, shall be cause for rejection of the first article. 4.3 Conformance inspection. Sampling for conformance inspection shall be performed in accordance with ASQ Z1.4, except where otherwise indicated hereinafter. Unless otherwise spe
30、cified, the Acceptable Quality Limits (AQLs) listed in this section shall be used to establish the sample sizes, however, the acceptance number shall be zero. 4.3.1 Inspection of materials and components. In accordance with 4.1 above, components and materials shall be inspected and tested in accorda
31、nce with all the requirements of referenced specifications, drawings and standards unless otherwise excluded, amended, modified or qualified in this specification, or applicable purchase document. 4.3.2 In-process inspection. Examination shall be made during the manufacturing for the requirements sp
32、ecified in table I to establish that no deviation is made from the indicated requirements. When nonconformance is noted, correction shall be made to affected items in process. The Inspection level shall be level II and the acceptable quality limits (AQLs) shall be 4.0 for major defects and 10 total defects, expressed

39、s. (contd) 4.3.3.2 Dimensional examination. Inspection shall be made of the end item for compliance with dimensions specified. Any deviation from specified requirements shall constitute a defect. The inspection level shall be S-2 with an AQL of 4.0 total defects, expressed in terms of defects per hu
40、ndred units. 5. PACKAGING. 5.1 Packaging. For acquisition purposes, the packaging requirements shall be as specified in the contract or order (see 6.2). When packaging of materiel is to be performed by DoD or in-house contractor personnel, these personnel need to contact the responsible packaging ac
41、tivity to ascertain packaging requirements. Packaging requirements are maintained by the Inventory Control Points packaging activities within the Military Service or Defense Agency, or within the military services system commands. Packaging data retrieval is available from then managing Military Dep
42、artments or Defense Agencys automated packaging files, CD-ROM products, or by contacting the responsible packaging activity. 6. NOTES (This section contains information of general or explanatory nature that may be helpful, but is not mandatory.) 6.1 Intended use. The folding table covered by this sp
43、ecification is intended for use as a component of a field laundry. 6.2 Ordering data. Procurement documents should specify the following: (a) Title, number, and date of this specification. (b) When a first article is required (see 3.1, 4.2, and 6.3). (c) Packaging requirements (see 5.1). 6.3 First a
44、rticle. When a first article is required, the contracting officer should provide specific guidance to offerors whether the item(s) should be a preproduction sample, a first article sample, a first production item, a sample selected from the first production items, a standard production item from the
45、 contractors current inventory (see 3.1) and the number of items to be tested. The contracting officer should also include specific instructions in acquisitions documents regarding arrangements for examinations, approval of first article test results, and disposition of first articles. Invitations f
46、or bids should provide that the Government reserves the right to waive the requirement for samples for first article inspection to those bidders offering a product which has been previously acquired or tested by the Government, and that bidders offering such products, who wish to rely on such produc
47、tion or test, must furnish evidence with the bid that prior Government approval is appropriate for the pending contract.
