This commercial item description covers th

2、e uncut glass ophthalmic -lenses, dress type for visual deficiency correction. Salient characteristics: Lenses shall be classified to the following types, classes, styles, sizes and power required, as specified: Type I. Lens blank, semifinished II. Lens, finished, uncut Class a. Bifocal b. Single vi

3、sion c. Neutral absorption, N-21 Style 1. Spheres 2. Plano minus cylinders 3. Plus on minus compounds 4, Minus on minus compounds 5. One-piece raised ledge 6. 25mm straight top Size. The lens diameter under this specification shall be 65 mm - i- 1 mm round or 65 mm X 60 mm + 0.5 mm rectangular with

4、rounded corners. Other shapes are acceptable provided equivalent size is met . All glass lenses shall be capable to be hardened by chemical or dry heat tempering process after edging to withstand the impact resistance test requirement as specified in ANSI Z80.1-1979, Recommendations for Prescription

5、 Ophthalmic Lenses. When requested, the contractor shall demonstrate the impact resistance test for the satisfaction of the contracting officers representative. The fini,ied lens shall be a member of an integrated series of ophthalmic lenses having surface curvatures computed to conform to the corre

7、inished lens shall be as follows: Greater than 3.6.50 diopteror less than -6.50 diopter is +2% Cylinder 4.25 thru -2.00 diopter is +0.13P -2.12 thru -4.50 diopter is TO.15D Less than -4.50 diopter is I -ET% Sphere 0.00 thru 6.50 diopter is -t 0.13P The base curve on minus lens shall have certain dio

8、ptric power commensurate with the curve established by the major lens manufacturers, Flat base curve is not acceptable. Shall be to specified axial back vertex power within a tolerance of glus or minus 0.06 diopter. Center thickness of minus lens shall not be less than 2.2 mm. The corrective curve s

9、hall be generated on the inside of the lens . !the semifinished lens shall have the base curve located on convex side only . ?he white glass lens shall be made of high grade white ophthalmic 8 quality crown glass with an index of refraction of 1.5230 + 0.0015. The lens shall be free of bubbles, incl

10、usions, striae and cloudiness. When exposed to sunlight, it shall remain clear and free of color or * shade . The neutral absorption lens shall be neutral gray density commonly i.efsrred as “gray No. 3“, daylight transmission with dominant wavelength between 570 to 600 millimicrons range shall be 20

11、 + 1 percent, near infra-red transmission shall be 20 percent maximum and oKytheKmal ultra-violet transmission shall be 0.2 percent maximum, each to be determined on a glass thickness of 2.2 - + 0.2 mm. The raised ledge shall be str

16、aight across and positioned-3 to 5 mm below the geometrical center of the lens. Workmanship. The lens shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability, Quality Assurance Provisions. Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or

17、purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specifie

18、d herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. Records. Records of examinations and test

19、s performed by or for the contractor shall be maintained by the contractor and made available to the Government upon the Governments request, at any time, or from time to time, during the performance of the contract and for a period of three years after delivery of the supplies to which such records

20、 relate. Inspection. Inspection, as used herein, is defined as both examination (such as visual or auditory investigation without the use of special laboratory appliances or procedures) and testing (determination by technical means of physical and chemical properties) of the item. Contractor certifi

21、cation. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description - and conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior t

22、o first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract. Regulatory requirements. Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. If the product covered by this document has been determined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to be under its jurisdiction, the

23、offeror/contractor shall comply, and be responsible for compliance by its subcontractors/suppliers, with the requirements of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, as amended, and regulations promulgated thereunder. In addition, the offeror/contractor shall comply, and be responsible for complianc
