13、scribes some of the requirements for film dielectric capacitors oil filled or impregnated, or both, made with two metallized paper electrode or one metallized paper electrodes and one aluminum foil electrode. The capacitors are sealed in metal cases. They are intended for use in lighting ballasts, f

14、erroresonant trarisformer power supplies. some power factor correction, with motors, and other general purpose applications. The capacitors are rated for service in 50 Hz to 60 Hz circuits with case temperature range shown in paragraph 3.4. 2.0 DEFINITIONS 2.1 Rated voltage is the design steady stat

15、e rms operating voltage that may be supplied between the terminals of the capacitor (see paragraph 23.2). a 2.2 Rated case temperature is the maximum allowable hot spot temperature developed at any point on the case surface during maximum operating condi tion (see paragraph 23.3). 2.3 Self-healing i

16、s the property of a capacitor to restore the dielectric to an acceptable condition after dielectric breakdown occurs. 2.4 Capacitor failure is any abnormal condition of operation as described below: (a) Continuous or intermittent open circuit .between capacitor terminals. (b) Continuous short circui

17、t between capacitor terminals or between terminals and case. (c) Dissipation factor in excess of requirements of paragraph 11.0. 18、 m 3.0 STANDARD DESIGNATION 3.1 The EIA standard designation shall consist of seven parts as illustrated below with options indicated. This is a three digit sequential non-significant number which has been assigned by EIA. 3.4 Characteristic

30、of this device. 3.8.1.2 A minimum clearance above the capacitor terminals is required for effective operation of the protective device. The manufacturer should be consulted for minimum recom- mended clearance after installation. See paragraph 23.11. D i sc har ge Re si s t or The discharge resistor

31、shall be identified by the letter “R“ and shall discharge the capacitor to 50 volts or less within one minute after disconnection of the capacitor from the voltage supply. Ground Lug The ground lug shall be identified by the letter “G“. See Appendix C for ground lug details. Leakage To Case 3.8.4.1

32、Low leakage current to case required by UL1012 and UL1029, for some lighting and power supply applications shall be identified by the letter “K“. The leakage current value shall be determined by agreement between the supplier and the user. 3.8.4.2 Low leakage current to case for motor application sh

33、all be identified by the option letter “L“. 45、om pits, corrosion, cracks, rough edges and other de- fects that will affect life, serviceability or appearance. 8.0 MARKING 8.1 The marking shall be permanent ink or metal stamping and shall con- sist of the following items: (1) Nominal capacitance in microfarads. (2) Rated voltage in volts (rms).

46、(3) Rated frequency in Hz. (4) Name or symbol of manufacturer. (5) Metallized or SH. (6) Manufacturers part number. (7) IA date code identification. (8) Temperature OC (where required). (9) Underwriters Laboratories or equivalent protective device iden- tification (where required). Underwriters Labo

EIA 495-A 90 3234600 0071736 RS-495 Page 9 9.0 DIELECTRIC WITHSTANDING VOLTAGE 9.1 Between Terminals The capacito

48、rs shall be capable of withstanding the application of 1.75 x rated ac voltage for one second. The capacitors shall be discharged through a 10,000 ohm resistor to limit the current. 9.2 Terminals to Case The capacitors shall be capable of withstanding the application of 2 x rated ac voltage plus 1,0

49、00 volts for one second. 9.3 Alternative Tests The alternative tests to those outlined in paragraphs 9.1 and 9.2 may be conducted at a dc voltage equal to the peak voltage of the specified ac test voltage. Where the dc voltage is used the capacitors shall be charged and discharged through a 10,000 ohm resistor. 9.4 Defective Capacitors Capacitors shall be considered defective if they show evidence of continous or intermittent open circuit during or after the test of paragraph 9.1. Momentary short circuits are permitted as these capacitors are self-healing. 9.
