8、loped for audio and video applications have been considered for use in daCi pi-ocessing applications for storage as well as for information interchange. 9、ahyte of user data. Standard ECMA-I34 was the first of ;I series of ECMA Standards for such magnetic tape cartridges. Upon request of Committee ISOllEC JTCI/SCI 1 it has heen adopted as an International Standard under the fast-track procedure as ISOllEC 10777. This Standard ECMA-I70 is a further sta

10、ndard for the same reciirded format. but which supports two types of cartridges. For Type A. the magnetic tape has a nominal thickness of 13 prn. It is not within the scope 01 this Standard to specify the labelling and file structure, or the in terc hange code. Conformance Magnetic tape cartridge A IiiIW cirtridge sh;ill be in conforma

35、nce with this Standard if it meets all mandatory requirements specified hereiii foi. eithei- Typ A or Type B. The tape requirements shall be satisfied throughout the extent of the tap. A recorded t;ipc shall be either a Single Data Space Tape or a Partitioned Tape. Generating system A system generat

36、ing ;I magnetic tape cartridge for interchange shall be entitled to claim conformance with this Standird if all recordings on the tape meet the mandatory requirement; of this Standard. and if either or both niethods of appending ;ind overwriting are implemented. A claim of confurmance shall state wh

45、to the centreline of the recorded track. Back surface The surface of the tape opposite to the magnetic coating which is used to record data. Byte An ordered set of bits acted upon as a unit. Flux transition spacing The distance along a track between successive flux transitions. Frame A pair of adjacent tracks with azimuths of opposite polarity, in which the track w

49、ith the positive azimuth precedes that with the negative azimuth. Housekeeping Frame A frame which contains no user data and which is identified as such by the values in the data fields therein. Logical Beginning of Tape (LBOT) The point along the length of the tape where a recording of data for interchange commences. Magnetic tape A tape which will accept and retain the magnetic signals intended for input, output and storage purposes on computers and associated equipment.
