、rated wattage 6Ats Ob is the percentage variation in lamp cap temperature rise NOTE - The shape of the tolerance field above takes into account the fact that in the production of H.T.S. lamps, the spread in cap temperature rise is much larger than that in wattage. Experience has shown that the influ

、ence of the wattage tolerance on the temperature measured at the bifurcation point of the luminaire is 1.5 times greater than that of the cap temperature rise tolerance. This allows a widening of the cap temperature rise tolerance thus enabling a greater number of lamps to be selected as H.T.S. The

、area enclosed by A, B, C, D, E and F has been chosen to allow for the tolerance spread of cap temperature rise to be greater than the spread of wattage tolerance. 40、 (no r mat ive) Survey of the origin and development of heat test source lamps A.1 Introduction Luminaires for incandescent lamps must satisfy various safety requirements. Two of the most important requirements are that the user must be safeguarded against accidental contact with live parts and agai

、nst fire hazard. This necessitates stringent limits with regard to temperatures that arise during operation (see IEC 598-1). The temperature limits applicable to the materials used in the luminaire shall not be exceeded in order to prevent premature ageing, melting or shrinking of parts providing pr

、otection against electric contact or parts holding current-carrying parts in position. To check this, it is necessary that luminaires should be submitted to thermal tests during type testing. For such tests, two types of test lamps are generally necessary, namely: - heat test source (H.T.S.) lamps,

、to check primarily the effect of heat conducted through the lamp cap on the lampholder and its wiring; - radiation test source (R.T.S.) lamps, in order to check the effect of radiated energy on the temperature of other parts of the luminaire. For this purpose, a commercial lamp of the relevant bulb

、finish and shape, dimensions, cap and rated voltage should be taken. It is essential that the bulb is clean and free of extraneous markings, coating and the like. It is also necessary to give some consideration to the filament configuration for LV (100 V - 130 V) G.L.S. lamps since some designs use

、axial, while others use trans- verse or wreath filaments, which could produce different temperature patterns in luminaires. In the case of reflectors or bowl-mirror lamps, these can also be used as R.T.S. lamps, but in a version where the non-reflector part is clear (if such a version is available c

、ommercially). Radiation test source (R.T.S.) lamps do not need to have controlled Ats. CENELEC EN*b0634 95 3404583 0155788 511 = Page 9 EN 60634 : 1995 A.2 Basic rules for the H.T.S. system The H.T.S. and the corresponding temperature measurement of luminaires are based on the following fundamental

、rules. 1) H.T.S. lamps are basically defined by rated wattage, dimensions, type of cap and cap temperature rise. 2) The method of measuring the lamp cap temperature rise Ats (sleeve method) speci- fied in IEC 360. 3) Maximum average cap temperature rises have been specified in IEC 432 for incan- des

、cent production lamps of various rated wattages. 4) For such rated wattages H.T.S. lamps are intended to represent the lamps having the highest permissible average cap temperature rises for the relevant rating. 5) Luminaires shall be marked with the maximum rated wattage of the lamp(s) to be used. A

、.3 General considerations 1) The basis of the CEE/IEC 1963 “Gentlemens agreement“ was that existing good practice for lamps should not have to be modified as a consequence of the new require- ments. This basis still holds good today. 2) The CEE/IEC 1963 agreement was laid down in detail only for pear-shaped lamps for mains supply with E27 caps in the following ratings: 60 W, 100 W, 150 W, 200 W and 300 W. Subsequently, values were derived for lamps with the ratings 60 W, 100 W and 150 W but capped with 822. 3) Lamp
