3、s Part of BS 3483 supersedes BS 3483 : Part B6 : 1974 which is withdrawn. In 1994 the European Committee for StandarMon (CEN) accepted IS0 787-2 : 1981 as European Standard EN IS0 787-2 : 1995. As a consequence of implementing the European Standard this British Standard is renumbered as Bs EN 787-2
4、and any reference to BS 3483 : Pcut B6 should be read as a reference to Bs EN IS0 787-2. Terminology and conventions. The text of the international standard has been approd.as suitable for publication as a British Standard without deviation. Some terminology and certain conventions are not identical
5、 with those used in British Standards; attention is especially drawn to the following. The comma has been used as a decimal marker. 7、 Additional information. In paragraph 2 of 5.2 of IS0 787/2-1981, it is stated that the whole procedure (clause 5) is to be repeated if the duplicate determinations differ by more than 10 %. In implementing this standard in the United Kingdom, it is recommended that, if repeat determinations are nec

Take a representative sample of the material to be tested as described in IS0 842. 1 Scope and field of application 5 Procedure Carry out the determination in duplicate. 5.1 Test portion This part of IS0 787 s
19、pecifies a general method of test for determining the percentage by mass of matter volatile at a temperature of 105 OC in a sample of pigment or extender. This method is applicable to pigments and extenders that are stable at 105 OC (but see also the note to 5.2). NOTE - When this general method is
20、applicable to a given pigment or extender, only a cross-reference to it should be included in the Intema- tional Standard relating to that pigment or extender, with a note of any detailed modification which may be needed in view of the special pro- perties of the material in question. Only when this
21、 general method is not applicable to a particular material should a special method for determination of volatile matter be specified. 2 Reference Heat the weighing bottle (3.11, with the stopper removed, in the oven (3.2) at 105 OC for 2 h. Allow to cool in the desiccator (3.41, insert the stopper a
22、nd weigh to the nearest 1 mg. Spread 10 f 1 g of the sample in a uniform layer on the bot- tom of the weighing bottle, insert the stopper and weigh to the nearest 1 mg. NOTE - It may be necessary to reduce the mass of the test portion for pigments and extenders with a high bulk volume. The use of a
23、test por- tion smaller than that specifd should be stated in the test report. 5.2 Determination ! Is0 842, Raw m ml is the mass, in grams, of the residue. Calculate the mean of the two determinations, if they do not differ by more than 10 % of the higher value, and report the resutt to the nearest 0
