8、ritish Standard is the UK implementation of EN ISO 14232-1:2017. It is identical to ISO 14232-1:2017. It supersedes BS EN 1274:2004 which is withdrawn.BSI, as a member of CEN, is obliged to publish EN ISO 14232-1:2017 as a British Standard. However, attention is drawn to the fact that during the dev

9、elopment of this European Standard, the UK committee voted against its approval.The UK committee voted against the standard for technical reasons. The committee is of the opinion that there is a significant omission in subclause 4.3 within the paragraph detailing particle size measurement. Namely th

10、at there is no mention about differences in measurement results obtained between different techniques. For example, by the nature of the process, sieve measurement reports results in weight percentage, whilst laser scattering reports results in volume percentage. The sizing methods and the size rang

11、e measured by each should, therefore, be clearly stated in the output report.The UK participation in its preparation was entrusted to Technical Committee STI/40, Thermal spraying and thermally sprayed coatings.A list of organizations represented on this committee can be obtained on request to its se

45、 be considered as one of the main elements requiring control to produce an acceptable coating. The chemical and physical properties of powder play a fundamental role in the creation of desired coating properties. The size, shape and morphology of the powder particles determine the melting behaviour

46、and therefore the processing of powders in general.To keep the coating properties and the spray process as consistent as possible, it is very important to maintain all the characteristics of powder particles within limited tolerances.An exception is granted to details on the properties of sprayed co

47、atings. Such properties, which result from spraying conditions not covered by this document, e.g. gas composition, deposition efficiency, material flow rate, stand-off distance, etc., can differ greatly from the properties of the original powder.The ISO 14232 series consists of two parts. This docum
