APPLICATIONThis specification was released originally for material used as a seal ringbetween the exhaust pipe and the engine manifold.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 COMPOSITION3.1.1 Graphite Powder, min 20%. Carbon, min 90%. M

3、oisture, Volatile Matter, max 1.5%. Ash Remainder3.1.2 Low Carbon Steel Fiber, min 45%. Carbon, max 0.15%. Manganese, max 0.80%. Other Remainder3.1.3 Stainless Steel Wire, SAE 30304, min 5.0%. Diameter (Nominal) 0.279 mm3.1.4 Resin Binder, min 15%3.1.5 Infrared SpectrophotometryFord Motor Company, a

4、t its option, may conduct infraredan alysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The spectra established for initial approval sha ll constitutethe reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesig nated material laboratory. All samples shall producespectra that correspond to the r

6、ak, emit noxious or objectionablefumes or have any other deleterious effects in the intendedapplication.3.2.3 Resistance to Heat AgingAfter exposure to 670 EC for one hour (air ), weight loss mustnot exceed 5% of the or iginal part weight and part shall notshow evidence of deterioration.3.3 SUPPLIER

7、S RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inal l characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Pri or to making any change in the properties, composition,co nstruction, color, processing or labelling of the materialorig inally approve

8、d under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Enginee

9、ringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WS S-M99P9999-A1, u

10、nlessa different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineeringdocument for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shall first

11、 obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity its own laboratory rep ort to the specification (test results, notnominal values), the material designation and code number, and testspecim ens for Ford evaluation. Upon approval, the material will be addedto the Engineering Material Approved Source List.
