、QUALIFICATION AND ESA-M9P7-A ACCEPTANCE TEST REQUIREMENTS NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE This specification establishes the minimum qualification and acceptance test requirements for molded and extruded elastomeric parts. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally to establish

、 requirements that are necessary to produce and determine the acceptability of Chassis elastomeric parts. Compliance with all of the requirements in this specification must be demonstrated prior to ISIR approval and at the specified frequency on a continuing basis. Revalidation will be required if a

、ny change is made that may affect part function and/or performance. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 QUALIFICATION TESTS 3.1.1 Raw Material Oscillating Disk Rheometer or Shearing Disk Viscometer (ASTM D 2084 or ASTM D 1646, respectively) Each batch must have a curve or viscosity and scorch data that corresponds

、to the original compound approved for use by Materials Engineering. This correspondence shall be established by the compounder through consecutive analysis of the initial batches used to mold acceptable parts utilizing established operating parameters. 3.1.2 Slab Stock Each batch must be tested by a

、pproved methods to the original (un-aged) requirements for tensile strength, elongation, hardness, and modulus as shown in the material specification, prior to release to production. All other slab stock requirements including aging tests must be performed prior to initial sample approval and a mini

、mum of once every six months. 3.2 ACCEPTANCE TESTS - MOLDED OR EXTRUDED PARTS 3.2.1 Specific Gravity +/- 0.03 (ASTM D 792) Hardness - Micro +/- 5 (ASTM D 1415) Each supplier must establish values for their compound prior to initial approval and be able to maintain these values within the given toler

、ance. A minimum of 3 samples per lot (8 h production maximum) must be tested after vulcanization prior to secondary operations. A sampling pattern shall be established so that samples tested will vary and represent each part in a multicavity system. ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION ESA-M9P7-A Page

The IR spectra and thermograms established for initial approval shall constitute the reference standard a

、nd shall be kept on file at the designated material laboratory. All samples shall produce IR spectra and thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when tested under the same conditions. 3.3 ADJUSTMENTS TO TEST PLAN Alternate tests and/or frequencies must be authorized in writing by the F

、ord Supplier Quality Assurance, Product Engineering and Materials Engineering Office representatives. 3.4 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Specific requirements for material and/or manufactured parts shall be specified on the Engineering drawing, Engineering parts specification and/or performance specificati

、ons. All critical areas with respect to these properties shall be clearly designated on the engineering drawing. 3.5 STATISTICAL PROCESS Suppliers must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality System Standard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as described therein is required for material/

、source approval. Appropriate statistical tools must be used to analyze process/product data so that variation in the final product is continuously reduced. 3.6 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONS All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C

、 and 50 +/- 5% relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. 3.7 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITY All materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent in all characteristics to the material upon which approval was origin

、ally granted. Prior to making any change in the properties, composition, construction, color, processing or labeling of the material originally approved under this specification, whether or not such changes affect the materials ability to meet the specification requirements, the Supplier shall notif

、y Purchasing, Toxicology and the affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changes and obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineering activity. Test data, test samples and a new code identification are to be submitted with the request. Substance restrictions imposed by law, r

、egulations or Ford, apply to the materials addressed by this document. The restrictions are defined in Engineering Material Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1, unless a different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineering document for the application. ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION ESA-M

、9P7-A Page 3 of 3 4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALS Materials defined by this specification must have prior approval by the responsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approval of their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from the affected Purchasing, Design and Material

、s Engineering activity. Upon request, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineering activity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by a qualified and authorized representative of the test facility, demonstrating full compliance with all the requirements of this

、specification (test results, not nominal values), the material designation and code number, and test specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of a material will be based on its performance to this specification and on an assessment of suitability for intended processes and/or applic

、ations. Upon approval, the material will be added to the Engineering Material Approved Source List. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION The information below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. 5.1 ACCEPTANCE TESTS are those tests specified on Ford Prod

、uct Engineering, applied (wherever possible) to the production part, for use as an acceptance criterion on a continuing basis during production. 5.2 LOT defines a homogeneous quantity of parts produced during a specified period of time from the final operation, and which can be clearly identified an

、d isolated. Unless otherwise specified by the applicable Engineering Material Specification(s), lot size shall normally represent parts produced during a period not exceeding eight hours or one working shift and not exceeding 250 000 pieces. Production processes shall be a factor in determining lot

、sizes, which must be acceptable to the Ford representative. 5.3 BATCH defines a specific quantity of raw material either blended or compounded at a supplier location for use at that facility. Normally, a batch of raw materials will represent that quantity processed in a given vessel at a given time.

、 Batches can vary significantly in weight and/or volume, but generally can be defined by the total quantity of constituent materials mixed at one time. 5.4 QUALIFICATION TESTS are those tests specified by Ford Product Engineering, in the Engineering Material Specification, and are used to qualify materials to engineering requirements. Qualification tests and acceptance tests must be performed as part of the initial sample approval. Qualification tests shall be used as necessary for raw material approval, blending or compounding control and when questions regarding material quality arise.
