SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a low bake elastomeric paint system suitable for use as an exterior finish for polyvinyl chloride parts. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released origin
3、ally for paint used as an exterior finish for polyvinyl chloride parts such as stone deflectors, body side moldings, or other exterior parts. Two types of finishes are defined as follows: Type I This finish consists of a base color coat only. Type II This finish consists of a base color coat followe
4、d by a clear topcoat. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES 3.1.1 Non-Volatile, min (FLTM BI 102-01) Non-metallic c

The viscosity of the material shall not inc
7、rease more than 10 s. 3.2 TOXICITY The material shall contain no benzene, chlorinated or other toxic compounds, or hydrolyzable chlorine derivatives or have an obnoxious or objectionable odor. 3.3 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS Prepare according to the following procedure: 3.3.1 Substrate Use panels or
8、parts of the specified polyvinyl chloride substrate in any convenient size. A smooth surface with no pits or surface irregularities is required. Clean the panels or parts to remove mold release agents or other surface contaminants before painting. 3.3.2 Color Coat Reduce the lacquer to spray viscosi
9、ty of 15 - 18 s #4 Ford Cup with the solvent recommended by the paint supplier and apply 25 micrometer min dry film thickness. Bake 10 min at 66 C. 3.3.3 Clear Topcoat For Type II reduce the clear lacquer to spray viscosity of 15 - 18 s #3 Ford Cup with the solvent recommended by the paint supplier
10、and apply 21 micrometer min dry film thickness. Bake 10 min at 66 C. 3.4 APPEARANCE 3.4.1 Color (FLTM BI 109-01, Paragraphs 3.3 and 3.6.8) Color and texture shall match the Ford Motor Company master panel after all the baking cycles. 12、meter J 6 max 60 meter 3.4.3 General The enamel shall bake out to a presentable, serviceable film showing no craters, pinholes, seediness or abnormal roughness. It shall have good resistance to ordinary cleaning and polishing procedures. 3.5 FILM PROPERTIES 3.5.1 Film Hardness Shall be sufficiently
13、hard at time of packing to withstand normal handling. 3.5.2 Adhesion No flaking or (FLTM BI 106-01) chipping 3.5.3 Film Thickness, min (FLTM BI 117-01) Color Coat - 25 micrometer Clear Coat - 21 micrometer Note: Place a metal coupon adjacent to the surface and process concurrently with the panel or
14、part being painted. 3.5.4 Flexibility No cracking when bent over 13 mm mandrel at 23 +/- 2 C. 3.5.5 Hiding (FLTM BI 001-04) 3.5.6 Bleeding No greater bleeding through the color coat than the approved master panel on file in the Body Materials Laboratory. 15、-A Copyright 2012, Ford Global Technologies, LLC Page 4 of 6 3.6 RESISTANCE PROPERTIES All tests are required for Type I and Type II finishes. 3.6.1 Water Resistance, min 240 h (FLTM BI 104-01) Remove parts from the water and immediately scribe an X through the enamel to the substrate. Dry the scrib
16、ed area with a paper towel, cloth or air pressure and immediately apply, with firm thumb pressure, a min of 13 cm of ESF-M3G48 tape. Remove the tape by pulling one end at a 90 angle at a moderate speed. The following conditions shall be basis for rejection: . Removal of paint beyond 1.6 mm from any
17、scribe line. . Any evidence of blistering or dulling of the paint at either the scribe or any other area of the panel. 3.6.2 Weathering Resistance Panels prepared in accordance with paragraph 3.3 shall show a min degree of fading, chalking, or dulling. No cracking when bent over a 51 mm mandrel on 6
18、.4 mm thick elastomeric substrate. No increase of brittleness or loss of adhesion is permitted and panels shall be completely free from evidence of cracking, checking, blistering, or peeling when exposed as follows: . Florida Exposure (Miami area) 12 months at 5 facing south . Accelerated Weathering
19、 1600 h (FLTM BO 101-01) Required for initial paint qualification on typical approved production substrate. 3.6.3 Thermal Shock Resistance (FLTM BI 107-05) The enamel shall exhibit no blistering or loss of adhesion when subjected to the following cycle. . 4 h water immersion . 4 h min exposure at -2
20、9 C . 21、 shall exhibit no more dulling or color change than the approved master sample on file in the Body Materials Laboratory. 3.6.5 Resistance to Acid Spotting (FLTM BI 113-02, except use of colorimeter is omitted) The enamel shall exhibit no softening, dulling or color change than the approved master sa
22、mple on file in the Body Materials Laboratory. 3.6.6 Gasoline Resistance The enamel shall exhibit no softening, dulling, color transfer, color change, blistering, or show any evidence of loss of adhesion. Test Method: Place the painted panel in a 600 ml beaker half full of M14J148 Petroleum Naphtha
23、- Aliphatic type, for 1 h at 21 C min. Wipe the panel with a soft cloth and examine the cloth for evidence of color transfer and the paint film for evidence of degradation. 3.6.7 Oil Resistance The enamel shall exhibit no softening, dulling, color transfer, color change, blistering, or show any evid
24、ence of loss of adhesion. Test Method: Place the painted panel in Rotunda Motor Oil (SAE 10W30). After 1 h at 21 C min, remove the panel and wipe the painted surface with a soft cloth and examine the cloth for evidence of color transfer and the paint film for evidence of degradation. 3.6.8 Heat Resi
25、stance There shall be no evidence of cracking, checking, or color change after exposure in a mechanical convection oven for 30 min at 88 +/- 2 C. 3.6.9 Cold Flexibility (FLTM BN 102-01) Cracking of the paint coating is permitted provided no loss of adhesion of the paint develops at the cracks. Visib
26、le hairline paint cracks are acceptable when the test piece is restored to its normal plane. Cracks in the elastomeric substrate, up to 10% of the part thickness are permitted. Test Method: Condition the sample for 4 h min at -29 C. Bend the samples over a temperature conditioned 13 mm mandrel at -2

GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting
28、the requirements of this specification. 5.1 FLASH POINT Below 26 C 5.2 FLAMMABILITY This material represents a potential fire hazard. The Manufacturing Engineering Department shall notify both the Plant Security and the Safety Units of its presence in the Plant to assure that proper fire precautions are provided.
