SCOPE The materials defined by this specification consists of a mixture of molybdenum disulfide and polytetrafluoroethylene in a phenolic binder, spray applied over p

3、hosphated steel. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for a material used as a composite solid film lubricant, used to reduce friction on automotive door hardware components such as levers and sliding pins. 3. GENERAL INFORMATION The information below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. 5.1 PROCEDURE FOR DETERMINATION OF RESINS, SOLIDS,

10、AND MOLYBDENUM DISULFIDE Weigh a known quantity of the material (A) into a tared centrifuge tube, and centrifuge at 2100 rpm for 30 minutes. Decant the liquid into a tared beaker, and add chloroform to the centrifuge tube. After shaking vigorously for several minutes, centrifuge at 2100 rpm for 30 m

11、inutes, and decant into the beaker; repeat. Dry the contents of the beaker and the centrifuge tube for four hours at 104 C. Determine the mass of the resins in the beaker (B) and the solids in the centrifuge tube (C). Weigh 0.1 to 0.2 g (D) of the solids remaining from the Molykote 106 extraction in

12、to a tared crucible, and place in a muffle furnace for eight hours at 1000 F. Determine the amount of molybdenum trioxide residue in the crucible (E).
