SCOPEThe material defined by this specification is a polyethylene filamentmesh tubing. The tubing fila

2、ments are extruded to simulate a wovenbraid, and are heat bonded at points of contact.2. APPLICATIONThis specification was released originally for material used as ananti-rattler sleeve for the door latch rod in 1983 vehicles. Partapplications are restricted to temperature exposures not exceeding 10

3、4 Cfor 20 min.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/orthermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for initial approvalshall constitute the refer

4、ence standard and shall be kept on fileat the designated material laboratory. All samples shall produceIR spectra and thermograms that correspond to the referencestandard when tested under the same conditions.3.2 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONSAll test values indicated herein are based on material

5、conditionedin a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relativehumidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested underthe same conditions unless otherwise specified.3.3 TUBE INSIDE DIAMETER As specified on the engineering(ASTM D 628) drawing3.4 FILAMENT DIAMETER 0.019 +/- 0.005

Subject a test assembly as shown below in a mechanicalconvection oven at 104 C for 20 min.3.10 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYMaterial supplied to this specification must be equivalent to thatoriginally approved.

9、Changes in formulation or processing shall notbe made without prior approval as described in Supplier ProcedureI-A.4. APPROVAL OF SUPPLIERSSuppliers to this specification must be approved by the affected productengineering office. Procedure for gaining approval of a specific materialto a new/existing ES-M specification is contained in Supplier ProcedureI-A. Approved new suppliers will be added to the Engineering MaterialsApproved Source List.
