SCOPE The material defined by this specification consists of a non - asbestos sheet with a nitrile rubber binder secured equally on both sides of a low carbon steel core. The assembly i s coated with an anti - stick coating. 2. APPLICATION This s
3、pecification was released originally for material used for the intake manifold or cylinder head gasket where a material with high compressive strength at high temperatures is required. 3. REQUIREMENTS Material specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. 3.1 QUAL
4、ITY SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Quality System Requirements. 3.2 CONSTRUCTION Consist s of a low carbon steel core with a sheet consisting of nitrile rubber binder and non -asbestos aramid fiber compound bonded to each side of the steel core

An anti -stick coating is applied to the gasket assembly. 3.2.1 Steel Core Low carbon steel, thick ness as specified on engineering drawing. 3.2.2 Non - asbestos Sheet and Synthetic Rubber Binder The non - asbestos sheet shall be plied uniformly and bonded to each side of the steel core to meet re
6、quirements of the application at the thickness specified on the engineering drawing. 7、 to meet all the requirements of the application. The coating is applied to the gasket surfaces and shall not be remov able as a continuous film. 3.3 FINISHED GASKET All tests shall be conducted in accordance with ASTM F 104, Type 6 materials unless otherwise specified. 3.3.1 Immersion in Liquids Di

Metal Plates Aluminum to Aluminum Aluminum to Steel Steel to Steel Test Method: A 15.9 mm I.D. x 38.1 mm O.D. test specimen is clamped between 2 discs of 13.5 mm I.
12、D. x 51 mm O.D. metal plates (maximum thickness 1.57 mm) backed by 12.7 mm steel plates. A 12.7 mm steel bolt is inserted through the hole and a nu t put on it. Tighten the bolt to 79 Nm. Heat the assembly to 149 +/ - 3 C for 5 h. Remove and allow to cool to room temperature. The specimen shall come
13、 off the metal plates without tearing and the metal plates must show no evidence of corrosion. 3.4 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSIS IR spectra and thermograms established for initial approval shall constitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at the designated materi
14、al laboratory. All samples shall produce IR spectra and thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when tested under the same conditions. 15、upplied to this specification must be equivalent in all characteristics to the material upon which approval was originally granted. Prior to making any changes to the material originally approved under this specification, whether or not such changes affect the materials ability to meet the specifica
16、tion requirements, the Supplier shall notify the affected Purchas ing, and Materials Engineering activities (with reasons) of the proposed changes. Upon notification of the Company, further instructions will be provided. Note: Suppliers should be prepared to provide test data and samples demonstrati
17、ng compliance to th is specification, if requested. Substance restrictions imposed by regulations or Company direction applies to the materials addressed by this document. The restrictions are identified in Restricted Substance Management Standard WSS - M99P9999 - A1. 4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALS Materi
18、als defined by this specification for direct supply to the Company must have prior approval. Certain materials subcontracted by part suppliers may also require prior approval. These include materials critical to the Companys bus iness for regulatory, safety, environmental or compatibility requiremen
19、ts or contractual agreements. Suppliers desiring approval of their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from Purchasing, Design or Materials Engineering activity. Up on request, the Supplier shall submit a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by a qualified and authorized representative of the test facility, demonstrating full compliance with all the requirements of this specification.
