2、USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE This specification defines the performance of silver electroplating. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for silver plating of electrical connecting devices. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and p
3、art producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 PLATING METHOD This specification is not intended to limit the procedure of plating. Any process resulting in a satisfactory adherent and durable plate will be satisfactory. A nickel under
4、plate is required when specified on engineering drawing. 3.1.1 Cleaning Requirements Carburized parts, case depths in excess of 0.012 in (0.30 mm), cold worked parts such as hard drawn spring wire parts, steel bolts having a Rockwell hardness of “C“ 27 and over and all other parts having a hardness
5、of Rockwell “C“ 32 and over are considered susceptible to hydrogen embrittlement. Any standard cleaning method is acceptable providing the following restrictions are observed. . Carburized parts must have been stress relieved for 1 h at 135 C minimum before cleaning. . None of the parts mentioned ab
6、ove shall be cleaned by acid solution unless specifically approved. 3.1.2 Hydrogen Embrittlement After plating, all of the above mentioned parts shall be heated to 175 C and held at this temperature for 1 h minimum. This draw operation must be performed within 4 h (1 h preferred) after plating opera

Page 2 of 2 3.4 QUALITY Plated parts shall be free from surface imperfections such as rough or orange peel conditions, cold shuts, pits, slivers, dullness, stains, discoloration, break in the plate and wheel marks or buff lines to the extent required by specifications for the visual inspection of appearance items established by Product Engineering.
