SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a high temperature flexible tube consisting of a silicone rubber impregnated glass fabric attached to a helical s

3、teel wire skeleton. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for tubing used as the hot air intake duct connecting the air cleaner and the hot air passages around the manifold. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers m

4、ust conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 CONSTRUCTION Shall consist of a helical wound steel wire covered with and bonded to a 42 warp x 32 fill silicone rubber impregnated glass fabric. 3.2 IMPREGNATED FABRIC Tests to be conducted on every lot

5、 of material. 3.2.1 Breaking Strength, min (ASTM D 1458) Warp Direction 28 kN/m width Fill Direction 18 kN/m width 3.2.2 Tear Resistance, min 437 N/m thickness (ASTM D 2261, test actual hose 3.2.3 Thickness 0.25 - 0.36 mm 3.2.4 Flammability Self extinguishing in 1 minute (ISO 3795) 3.2.5 Heat Aging

7、Volatiles, max 0.50% (FLTM AV 102-01, as received at Ford Motor Company) 3.3 WIRE 3.4 FABRICATED ASSEMBLY 3.4.1 Heat Aging (70 h at 200 +/- 2 C) After heat aging, compress tubes 50% and extend to normal length. Repeat for a total of 10 cycles. The fabric cover shall be free from blisters, thin areas

8、, cracks and torn places which are deleterious to the proper functioning of the part. There shall be good adhesion between the fabric layers and fabric to steel supports. 3.4.2 Bend Test No cracking, delamination, flattening or separation between the rubber and steel coil. Bend tube around a mandrel

9、 with a radius as indicated below. In case of intermediate sizes, use values for the next lower diameter. All critical areas with respect to these properties shall be clearly designated on the engineering drawing.
