SCOPE The materials defined by these specifications are water based primers for Polypropylene plastics. 2. APPLICATION These specificatio
3、ns were released originally for materials used as two pack adhesion primer for polypropylene bumpers. This primer must be cured with hardener ESK-M99J370-A. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 QUALITY SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to Quality System Requirements, QS-9000. Mat
4、erial specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. A Control Plan for ongoing production verification is required. This plan must be reviewed and approved by the relevant Ford Materials activity and/or Ford Supplier Technical Assistance (STA) prior to production
5、parts submission. Appropriate statistical tools must be used to analyze process/product data and assure consistent processing of the materials. Part producers using this material in their products, must use Ford approved materials and must conform to a process control plan which has been approved by
6、 STA and/or the relevant Materials Activity. 3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSIS Ford Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/or thermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification. The IR spectra and thermograms established for initial approval shall
7、constitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at the designated material laboratory. All samples shall produce IR spectra and thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when tested under the same conditions. 3.3 CONDITIONING All test values indicated herein are based on mate
8、rial conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. 11、ability: 90 days During the storage between 5 and 32 C the material shall not settle up or cake insoluble. After the storage, the material must meet all specification requirements. 3.6 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS 3.6.1 Substrate: Polypropylene (WSK-M4D777-A2), smooth surface. The surface to be painte
12、d shall be cleaned by an acceptable process, e.g. power wash, to remove mold releasing agents, fingerprints, oils, dirt and moisture. 13、etreated by an acceptable process prior to painting, e.g. flame process, corona discharge or plasma treatment. 3.6.3 Primer Application (see also 5.2): Dry film thickness, micrometre: 20 - 30 Flash off at room temperature: 15 minutes Baking at 80 C Object temp: 25 minutes 3.6.4 Application of Top Co
14、at: Application of two pack high flexible top coat system as specified in the relevant material specification. 3.6.5 Ageing Test panels prepared under this specification shall be aged for at least 168 h at 23 +/- 2 C or 16 h at 45 +/- 1 C before testing for resistance properties. 3.7 APPEARANCE Colo

17、gh Pressure Cleaning (FLTM BO 160-04, Method B) Prior to testing the painted surface shall be cross-hatched through to the substrate (30 deg angle). The test must be performed on the cross-hatch. No loss of adhesion from paint to substrate or between paint films permitted. Note: Distortion of the su
18、bstrate is not considered to be failure of the paint film. 3.8.5 Resistance Against Fuel (FLTM BO 101-05, variations noted below) Item 1. of the procedure is deleted. Prior to testing the painted surface must be scribed down into the substrate. The test shall be repeated after 30 minutes. No loss of
19、 adhesion, no softening and no blistering accepted. 3.8.6 Cold Impact Resistance (Initial Approved only) Test Method as specified on Engineering Drawing. The finished part shall show no breaks, cracks, chipping or other failures. For the evaluation test results from painted and unpainted parts shall
20、 be compared. Defects that appear on painted as well as on unpainted parts shall not be evaluated. 3.8.7 Environmental Cycling 3 cycles (Initial Approval Only) (FLTM BQ 104-07, Procedure 5) Evaluation after 20 h conditioning at 23 +/- 2 C. 21、e of other failure when compared with an original unaged part. Adhesion shall meet the requirements of 3.5.1. 22、l be exposed in the area of Miami, Florida, 5 deg facing south. After the exposure the surface shall shown neither blistering nor peeling. 23、10 RESISTANCE PROPERTIES Test panels and plastic parts prepared according to 3.6 of this specification shall meet all requirements of Performance Specification WSK-M2P145-A. 3.11 QUALITY The primer must be adaptable for application in accordance with the appropriate Ford Motor Company Process Specif
24、ication. The primer must be compatible with all related materials, e.g. basecoat, topcoat, plastic substrate, adhesives, etc. 3.12 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITY All materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent in all characteristics to the material upon which approval was originally grante
25、d. Prior to making any change in the properties, composition, construction, color, processing or labeling of the material originally approved under this specification, whether or not such changes affect the materials ability to meet the specification requirements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasin
26、g, Toxicology and the affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changes and obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineering activity. Test data, test samples and a new code identification are to be submitted with the request. Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations
27、or Ford, apply to the materials addressed by this document. The regulations are defined in Engineering Materials Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1. 28、s specification must have prior approval by the responsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approval of their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from the affected Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Upon request, the Supplier shall submit to
29、the affected Materials Engineering activity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by a qualified and authorized representative of the test facility, demonstrating full compliance with all the requirements of this specification (test results, not nominal values), the material desi
30、gnation and code number, and test specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of a material will be based on its performance to this specification and on an assessment of suitability for intended processes and/or applications. Upon approval, the material will be added to the Engineerin
31、g Material Approved Source List. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. 5.1 DENSITY OF THE DRY FILM see Initial Sample +/- 0.02 kg/L (FLTM BI 154-02) 5.2 FILM THICKNESS The necessary film thic
32、kness of the primer is depending on the surface of the part and may be increased to maximum 80 micrometre. Flash off as well as drying conditions must be adapted to that high film build under process conditions. 5.3 MATERIAL REFERENCE All related materials used for approval of primer according to this specification, e.g. paint materials or plastic substrates, shall be noted in the Initial Sample Report of the primer.
