Cockman Application This is a procedure to determine the burst strength of open weave reinforced rubber hose. The bursting pressure is applied by means of hydros
、tatic pressure. Apparatus Required Metal Plugs or Cones Must have an interference fit on the I.D. of the hose being checked. One plug or cone must have a fitting which will provide for the opening on the hydrostatic tester; the other plug or cone must have a suitable valve to purge the air from the
、hose prior to the application of hydrostatic pressure. Note: Leading edges of plugs must not damage tube of hose. Hose Clamps (2) Clamps or clamping devices to provide enough force so that no leakage or damage occurs while hose is being tested. Hydrostatic Tester Must have valves and gage system to
、provide for the rate and pressure required. Gage provided with scale not to exceed three times the approximate burst strength of the hose. A typical hydrostatic tester is shown in the sketch on page 3. Note: test. Cabinet must be shielded and proper drainage outlet provided for outlet of water after
、 burst Pump or Pressure System Must provide a rate rise of 1000 psi/minute +/- 10 % (70.30 kilograms per sq cm +/- 10 %). A typical pump used is Northern Nitralloy Rotary Gear Pump, or equivalent.
