2、r one pack paintfor plastic substrates.2. APPLICATIONThis spe cification was released originally for material used as one coatbaking paint for various interior applications.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStanda rd Q-101. A mutu

3、ally acceptable Control Plan as describedth erein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Compan

4、y, at its option, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material lab oratory. All samples shall

5、produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONINGAll test values indicated herein are based on ma terial conditioned ina control led atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relativehumidity for not less than 24 h prior t

10、ge of 90 days between 5 and 32 C temperaturethe m aterial as supplied shall not settle up or cakeinsol uble. After the storage the material must pass allspecification requirements.3.6 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS3.6.1 SubstrateABS, Polycarbonate, Polypropylene, Polyamide, etc. asspecified on Engineeri

11、ng Drawing.Note: PP/EPDM plastics must be primed with an ad hesion primerprior to painting.ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONWSK-M15J2-AWP 3948-b Page 3 of 4 3.6.2 Plastic PreparationThe surface to be painted shall be cleaned by an acceptablepr ocess, e.g. power wash, to remove mold releasing agents

12、,fingerprints, oils, dirt and moisture.3.6.3 Primer (not mandatory, only if required.)Application of a primer surfacer, film thickness and bakingas specified in the relevant material specification.3.6.4 Topcoat applicationDry film thickness: 20 - 25 micrometre;Flash off time: 5 minutes;Baking: 15 mi

13、nutes at 80 C (Object temperature)3.6.5 Ageing:Test panels prepared under this specification shall be agedfor at least 72 h at 23 +/- 2 C or 16 h at 45 +/- 1 C beforetesting for resistance properties.3.7 APPEARANCECol our, gloss, grain and surface finish shall match master TrimSample and/or Master A

14、ppearance Sample as approved by Design.3.7.1 Colour see MAS - Panel(FLTM BI 109-01)3.7.2 Gloss see MAS - Panel(FLTM BI 110-01, 60 deg)3.8 RESISTANCE PROPERTIESTest Panels and painted plastic parts prepared according to thisspecification shall meet all requirements of performancespecification WSK-M2P

15、161-A.3.9 QUALITYThe topcoat must be ada ptable for application in accordance with theappropriate Ford Motor Company Process Specification.The topcoat must be compatible with all related materials.3.10 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inal l cha

17、tion, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test dat

18、a, test samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford apply tothe mat erials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WS S-M99P9999-A1, unlessa different suffix

19、 (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineeringdocument for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shall first obtain an expression o

20、f interest from theaffect ed Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity its own laboratory rep ort to the specification (test results, notnominal values), the material designation and code number, and te

21、stspecimen s for Ford evaluation. Upon approval, the material will be addedto the Engineering Material Approved Source List. 5.
