APPLICATIONThis specification was released originally for material used as spot repairprimer on interior and exterior surfaces of vehicle bodies.The primer is used over current production primer surfacer and on areassanded through to bare metal.The prim er is suitable for use with either
3、solvent borne topcoats orwaterborne basecoats.The material is suitable for electrostatic spray application.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStanda rd Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedth erein is required for
4、material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l analysis of
5、material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material lab oratory. All samples shall produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference
6、 standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONINGAll test values indicated herein are based on ma terial conditioned ina control led atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relativehumidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under thesame conditions unless otherwise spe

13、with current approved primersurf acer. Film thickness and baking as specified in therelevant Material Specifications.The Test panels shall b e sanded through to bare metal in thecentre in a spot of 30 mm diameter using P400 sanding paperand cleaning petrol. After wipe off with cleani ng petrol thepa
14、nels are primed and painted as shown in 3.6.1.3.6.3 Ageing:Test panels prepared under this specification shall be agedfor at least 72 h at 23 +/- 2 C or 16 h at 45 +/- 1 C beforetesting for resistance properties.3.7 APPEARANCE (Primer only)Col our, gloss and surface finish shall match master Trim Sa

23、PPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inal l characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Pr ior to making any changes in the properties, composition,co nstruction, color, processing or labelling of the materialorig inally
24、approved under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials
25、Engineeringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WS S-M99P9999
26、-A1, unlessa different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineeringdocument for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shall
27、 first obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative
28、of the test faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtest specimens for Ford evaluation. In addition to meeti ng the requirementsof thi s specification, the materials will
29、 be assessed for suitability forintended applications as part o f the approval process. Upon approval, thematerial will be added to the Engineering Material Approved Source List.5.
