2、355-A (NORTH AMERICAN APPLICATIONS) NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE The material defined by this specification is an uncoated low carbon steel sheet (CQ) suitable for cold forming. For coated applications refer to the WSS-M1A356-A1/A3 Specification. 2. APPLICATION This specification was relea

3、sed originally for automotive body and chassis parts. The components are typically bolt on, non-structural. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P11

4、11-A). 3.2 CHEMICAL COMPOSITION (WEIGHT PERCENT) The upper and lower limits of chemical composition of the controlled elements shall be established by the supplier and be included in the control plan. 3.3 MECHANICAL PROPERTIES (ASTM E 8M, Longitudinal Tensile Specimens 50 mm Gauge Length) The materi

5、al shall be steel sheet suitable to form the part and be suitable for assembly. 6、wing shall be a minimum. Unless otherwise specified by Ford via the Engineering Drawing, the SMRL (see para 3.5) or Purchasing, the tolerance range on thickness shall comply with ES-YC15-1N260-AC. 7、 2 3.5 FORMABILITY The quality level of steel (including internal cleanliness) supplied to fabricate a specific component shall be negotiated between the manufacturing activity and the steel supplier. Acceptance of subsequent orders by the steel supplier for a given component at the agreed upon qual

8、ity level implies that all steel supplied will be of a comparable quality level and will form that part satisfactorily as defined by the manufacturing activity. Ford Motor Company may, at its option and in agreement with the steel supplier, compile a list of property requirements such as mechanical

9、properties, forming characteristics and surface texture, for each specific part. This list will be a mandatory extension of these specifications. The current responsible area within Ford North America is Advanced Technology and Material Engineering (AT&ME). The aforementioned list shall be known as

10、the Sheet Metal Requirements List (SMRL). 3.6 WELDABILITY The material is not intended for applications that require load bearing or functional resistance spot welds. It is acceptable for applications that use resistance spot welds as positioning or assembly aids and employ mechanical attachments fo

11、r final assembly. For applications that require load bearing or functional resistance spot welds refer to the WSS-M1A356-A1/A3 Specification. 3.7 SURFACE APPEARANCE, CONDITION AND SURFACE ROUGHNESS (Ra) Material in this specification is suitable for Class 3 applications only and shall comply with ES

12、F75B-11007-AA. A Class 3 surface shall be specified for parts of the vehicle that are concealed during normal use. The delivery condition shall be pickled and oiled, unless otherwise specified by Ford via the Engineering Drawing, the SMRL (see paragraph 3.5) or Purchasing. Ra and Peak Density are a

13、lso not defined for Class 3 surfaces. 4. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. 4.1 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS The reference documents are: ASTM A 569 M WSS-M99P9999-A1 WSS-M99P1111-A ASTM E 8M ES-YC15-1N260-AC ES-F75B-11007-AA 4.2 METHOD OF SPECIFYING The specification on the Engineering Drawing shall include, if applicable, the surface quality. e.g. Steel, Sheet, Hot Rolled, Low Carbon, uncoated, would be specified thus: Steel to WSS-M1A355-A: Class 3
