、AIR BAG COVER 1. SCOPE The material defined by this specification is top grain leather made from steer or heifer hides which has been tanned and softened to maximize material haptics. Top coat is a finish that allows for a specialized haptic which is a primary attribute for this leather. 2. APPLICAT
、ION This specification was released originally as top grain leather for hand wrapped steering wheels, shift knob, shift boot and driver airbag cover applications. 2.1 LIMITATIONS - This leather is not to be used for seating, interior trim, or instrument panel applications - Fully perforated leather
、is not to be used on steering wheels or shift knobs. - Top coat finish may not meet all Resistance to Colorfastness requirements for Perspiration after Resistance to Interior Weather (section 3.9.6.2 in WSS-M98P12-C2). Testing should be performed per section 3.15 below and submitted as report only i
、n lieu of 3.9.6.2. 3. REQUIREMENTS For all test methods, no individual measurement shall fall below the minimum values specified herein. In the event of an issue with a test result, testing on the finished part shall prevail. 3.1 APPROVED SOURCES This specification requires the use of approved sourc
、es. Only the sources identified on the Ford Approved Source List (ASL) can be used when this specification is listed on the drawing, CAD file, or other documents. The list of approved sources is located within Ford at or available externally through a Ford Materials Engineer. 3.2 APPEARANCE The col

ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION WSS-M1F32-A1 Copyright 2017, Ford Global Technologies, LLC Page 2 of 4 Test plans for both construction and color approvals can be found on Table 1 within WSS- M98P12-C2/latest. 3.5 CONDITIONIN
、G AND TEST CONDITIONS All test values are based on material conditioned for not less than 24 hrs prior to testing in a controlled environment of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5% relative humidity. Testing of the material should occur in the conditioning environment or soon after removal. 3.6 SAMPLE SELECTIO
、N LOCATIONS The location of the test samples is described in ISO 2418 or ASTM D2813 for physical testing of leather samples. Refer to WSS-M99P12-C2/latest for samples to be taken from the belly and backbone areas as noted in Table 1 of that specification. 3.7 FINISH The leather crust must be similar
、 in color (minimum 80% color match) to the surface coating. This is to prevent undyed fibers from showing through after sewing. No correcting or repair of any kind shall be allowed including but not limited to buffing, filling, sanding or stuccoing. Buffing is allowed for split leather only. 3.8 THI
