The purpose of this standard is to determine the dielectric welding properties of automotive trim materials, foils, and garnish moldings. 1.2 Applicability. This standa

、rd shall be used to determine the dielectric welding properties of automotive trim materials, foils, and garnish moldings and to evaluate the states after welding and the joint strength of welding area after aging about them, using the laboratory welding machine and the production welding machine. *

、 But, the materials under test shall be welded in the same combination as it is welded in production. The test can be performed on only one test material at a time. Any other materials to be combined will be the standard materials of which the weldability have been proved in production. 2 References

、at aging. 5.1.1 Visual Examination. Welds shall be visually examined for any changes, and adverse effect on serviceability. 5.1.2 Measurement of Joint Strength. Joint strengths shall only be measured on heat aged test pieces. 5.1.2.1 Heat Aging. The test pieces or components shall be heat aged for 5

、 to 24 hours in an air circulating oven of 80 E 2.5K, previously pre-heated to the test temperature. 5.1.2.2 Test Conditions. Any test shall be performed immediately after removal from the oven (at approx. +80 E ). 5.1.2.3 Measurement Procedure. 5.1.2.3.1 Laboratory Test Pieces. The test piece and s

、ubstrates shall be separated by parting the joint, and a sufficient length from the end of the test piece shall be remained so that the test piece is hooked to the end of spring balance. The strength of the joint shall be measured by exerting a force on the spring balance, acting at an angle of 150

、to the welded joint (see Figure 2). For welded combinations involving PVC garnish moldings, the angle of the test shall be 120. The separation rate shall, as far as possible, be uniform and shall not exceed 5 mm/sec. The minimum force recorded on the spring balance during separation shall be noted i

、n N. 5.1.2.3.2 Production Assemblies. Immediately prior to measuring the joint strength, for only one joint being tested, the assemblies shall be cut so that the joint under examination is in the center of the strip. The joint strength shall be measured along the entire length of the joint, as per 5

、.1.2.3.1. All combinations of all materials shall be tested. 5.2 Requirements. 5.2.1 Visual Examination. Visual examination, shall be carried out both after welding and after heat aging, shall indicate that the weld joint is of normal appearance, and shows no melting mlisters, cuts or change in colo
