SCOPE This standard is used to determine the resistance to peel of plastic films adhered to molded plastics and similar components. 2.
、DEFINITION 2.1. Resistance to peel: To be the force, acting at approx. 180and parallel to the test piece, necessary to peel the test piece of standard dimensions from the substrate. 3. TEST PIECES AND NUMBER OF TEST PIECES 3.1. The test piece shall be taken from the material or the component. The le
、ngth of it shall be at least 150mm. 3.2. For initial sample approval and arbitration purposes, at least 1 test piece from each of three components shall be tested. For routine quality control, at least 1 test piece shall be tested but each conditioning procedure is separately specified. 4. CONDITION
、ING The test piece shall be maintained for 24 hours at a temperature of 232K and a relative humidity of (506)% prior to testing. If the special conditioning is required, such requirements will be specified on the drawings the material specifications etc. 5. APPARATUS 5.1. Humidity chamber capable of
、 maintaining the relative humidity of (506)% at +232K. 5.2. Tensile test machine It shall be capable of traversing at a speed of (20020)mm/min and equipped with a force-extension recorder. 5.3. Cutting dies, saws or shears for preparation of the test pieces. 5.4. Chamber capable of performing the sp
、ecial conditioning (See clause 4). 6. PROCEDURE The test shall be performed at +235K immediately after conditioning. 6.1. Preparation of test strip from test piece The test strip of width (200.5)mm shall be cut so as to parallel to the longitudinal centre line of the test piece. One end of the test
、strip shall be separated from substrate by hand for a distance of 50mm. One end of the
、separated test strip shall be folded back upon itself such that the non adhered faces are touching. 6.3. One end of the separated test strip shall be gripped in the lower clamp of the tensile test machine, and the opposite end in the upper clamp.(see fig.1) 6.4. The tensile test machine shall be ope
、rated at the test rate of (20020)mm/min, and the force necessary to peel the test strip from the test piece shall be recorded by a force-extension recorder. 7. EVALUATION The resistance to peel shall be calculated as the average of the separating forces recorded on the force-extension diagram and ex
、pressed in N/Cm width. 8. EXPRESSION OF RESULTS The resistance to peel shall be expressed as the arithmetic average of individual test result in N/Cm width rounded to the nearest 0.1N/Cm width. 9. CODING SYSTEM On drawings or material specifications etc. the resistance to peel shall be expressed as
、follows. Resistance to peel - EDS-T-7654 - 20N/Cm width min. Requirement Test method Designation 10. DEVIATIONS Deviation from the condition of this test method (e.g. number of test pieces, test rate, etc.) shall have been agreed upon. These shall be specified on drawings, material specifications et
、c. and be indicated on test certificates, reports etc. 11. RELATED STANDARD EDS-T-7507 Test method for conditioning of plastic materials, textiles, fiberboards, wood etc 12.
