SCOPE. This Commercial Item Description covers one ty
2、pe of line clamp slip joint pliersused for installing line clamps.2. CLASSIFICATION. Not applicable.3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.3.1 Desire The pliers shall simultaneously hold a number 10 bolt, compress single and multipleline clamps, and automatically retain them.in a closed position, leaving both h
3、ands ee to applythe clamp nut or additional clamps. The phers shall be provided wth a three-hole shp jointadjustment capable of.a 3/4-inch adjustment. The pliers shall be properly proportioned in allparts so as to be strong, durable and easy to operate.3.2 Material. The pliers shallbe made of steel
4、and eitherinvestmentcastor forged. The joint andretainingpawl shall be steel.3.3 Jaws. The jaws shall operate through the maximum open/close travelof thetool in a smoothanduniform manner.3.3.1 Lower iaw. The lower jaw shall be slotted to allow clearance for contain a mechanism toretaina nurnbeObolt.
5、 The lower jaw shall contain a retainingpawl for holding the line clamp,in a closed posltlon.3.3.2 Upper iaw. The upper jaw shall be slotied to allow sufficient clearance for operation.3.4 Joint. The pliers shall be joined in a permanent manner through the use of a bolt and nut andshall not loosen o
6、r require adjustment. There shall be uniform smooth movement through therespective number of adjustment positions with a minimal amount of side play.3.5 Retainhw Pawl. The retainingpawl shall be securely attachedto the lower jaw and becapable of holding the clamp in the closed position.3.6 Handles.
7、The handles shall be shaped to afford a comfortable handgrip and shall be free fromrough edges and comers. Inner handle surfaces shall be well rounded or beveled so as to preventinjury to the hand. The outer handgrip surfaces of the handles shall be knurled, impressed orscored to minimize hand slipp

The jaw )thickness of the pliers shall be 1/2 inch plus or minus 1/16 inch. The specified dimensions shallbe taken

The pliers shall be finished with an instruction sheet. The instruction sheet shallcontain written step-by-step
12、 instructions and illustrations showing how to assemble and fasten lineclamps.3.12 Identification marking. The pliers shall be marked with the manufactures name or identifyingsymbol, and the state or country of manufacture, unless otherwise specified. All identification markingsshall be engraved, et
13、ched, molded, or indented directly on the items surface in such a manner that itremains clearly legible throughout the life of the item.3.13 Workmanship Details of workmanship shall be in accordance with the best commercial standardsand practices. Coating, plating, and finishes shall be smooth adher
14、ent, continuous, and not stained ordiscolored. External surfaces shall be free of tool and gouge marks, nicks, or other surfaceimperfections. The item shall be free fi-om manufacturing workmanship defects (e.g. sharp or roughexternal edges, comers or surfaces) and material workmanship defects (e.g.,
15、 pits, rips, fins, burrs, tearsnodules, cracks, blisters) which may adversely impact the items serviceability, durability, safety orappearance.4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS.4.1 Recovered Materials. The manufacturer is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximumextent practicable, in accordance
16、 with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).4.2 Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basiswith those manufactured using inch-pound units, provided they fall within the tolerances specified(using conversion tables contained
17、in the latest revision of Federal Standard 376) and all otherrequirements of this document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and thosedimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a request should be made to theContracting Ofiicer to determine if the pr
18、oduct is acceptable.5. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE.5.1 Product conformance. The product provided to the Government shall conform to the contractuallyspecified requirements. For product characteristics and requirements that are not contractually specified,the provided product shall conform to the suppliers o
19、wn drawings, standards, specifications and qualityassurance practices for the highest quality product commercially offered by the supplier. If the supplierdoes not commercially offer the product, the best commercial practices shall apply. The Governmentreserves the right to require proof of such con
20、formance prior to first delivery and thereafter as providedfor under the provisions of the contract.5.2 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified, the supplier is responsible for theperformance of all inspection requirements and may use any commercial facilities (including thesupplie
21、rs own facilities) suitable for performance of the inspection requirements, unless disapproved bythe Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections deemed necessaryto assure the item conforms to the specified requirements.6. PACKAGING. Packaging requirements for pres
