5、ipes and hash marks on cross-linked polyethylene insulated wire. The specification provides inks that will give a distinct color on various colors of insulation and possess excellent color retention. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers the general requirements, property and performance requirements,
6、 test methods and quality control of color coded wire. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the CEMS B-50 specification. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, th

The following colors shall be available: Black, White, Yellow, Red, Green, Blue, Orange, Brown, Violet, Gray, Pink, Aqua, Silver, Gol

11、There shall be no levering or curdling of the ink after being stored for 30 days at room temperature 21 3C (70 5F) in a 3/4 filled sealed container. Settling, which can be readily dispersed with agitation, is permissible. 4.1.3 Toxicity The ink shall not contain any benzene, aniline oil, or hydroliz
12、able chlorinated hydrocarbons, and constituents must be approved by Navistar Safety Department. 4.1.4 Reduction The use of the recommended solvents to reduce the viscosity for processing shall not affect the intensity of color for identification and/or dry film performance. 4.2 Dry Film Properties 4
13、.2.1 Chemical Resistance The inks, when properly applied to cross-linked polyethylene, shall withstand degradation when subjected to immersion in the test fluids indicated in Table 1. 4.2.1.1 Test Method Immerse or expose a section of the striped wire in the indicated test fluid(s) for the specified
14、 time period at the specified temperature. Then remove the wire and dry with an absorbent paper towel, unless otherwise indicated. 4.2.1.2 Required The ink stripe shall not have been removed by the solution nor the wiping action of the towel. 16、ll be rinsed in water and allowed to dry without wiping. 4.3 Ultraviolet Light Stability 4.3.1 Test Method Expose a sample of striped wire for 800 hours in a Q Panel QUV machine at 8/4 cycle (8 hours UV light, 4 hours condensation) per CEMS GT-31 method C. 4.3.2 Required The ink shall not be removed
17、 or lose its color identification at the conclusion of the specified test period. 19、N Material and processes submitted for approval to this specification shall include the following: 5.1 A detailed, signed test report documenting testing to this specification per TMS-9543. 5.2 Test coupons or photographs showing failure modes for each test. 5.3 The complete procedure used for prepa

21、nology Center PO Box 1109 Fort Wayne, IN 46801 6.0 QUALITY The ink shall be free from dirt, lumps, and skins and be miscible with the recommended thinner. 6.1 Quality Control Visual quality control of the stripes or hash marks shall be accomplished through comparison of production wire with approved
22、 master samples retained from the initial qualification of the striped wire. The appropriate inspection facilities shall maintain master samples or standards. 7.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 7.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to Navistar Inc. are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Qu
23、ality System Requirements. Navistar will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copi
24、es of registration certificates to their Navistar Corporate Buyer upon request. 7.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processin
25、g practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify Materials Engineering, Truck Development and Technology Center, and Navistar Purchasing and Sup
26、plier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 7.3 Pr
27、ocess Control The supplier shall either perform and/or report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all requi
