Change Notice: NEW 1.0 SCOPE This specification defines the materials related part performance requirements for all hard trim, mold in color (MIC) interior plastic components including, but not limited to: interior trim panels, moldings, overhead and floor cons

5、oles, hard instrument panel (IP) trim, etc. 1.1 Restricted Chemical Substances All product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the MPAPS B-50 specification. 2.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced stan

6、dards shall apply. The following Specifications, Standards, and Regulations are referenced in this specification. 7、ENTS AND PROCEDURES Note: All requirements and procedures listed in this document are superseded by specifications on part drawings. If a discrepancy exists, the requirements on specific drawings take precedent. Additionally, all results and data from testing must be provided to Navistar Design or M

8、aterials Engineering for approval. 3.1 Flammability (FMVSS 302) 3.1.1 Application. All interior components as defined by federal regulation. FEBRUARY 2014 Page 2 of 5 3.1.2 Requirement. Components must comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 302: Flammability of

10、Interior Materials. Certification documentation must be submitted to Navistar Design Engineering for approval. 3.1.3 Procedure. Test to procedure called out in FMVSS 302. Maximum allowed burn rate of 100 mm/ minute. Results must be submitted to Navistar Design or Materials Engineering for approval.

11、3.2 Colorfastness to Artificial Light (MPAPS GT-31) 3.2.1 Application. All parts with visible surfaces in all color variants must be tested. All materials must be tested within a given component. 3.2.2 Requirement. The material shall not show any surface deterioration, minimal color or gloss change,

12、 warpage, sag, staining, delamination, or other undesirable effects after exposure. Objectionable color change is defined as a measured color change of E 3 measured at the same location before and after exposure or on an as-received sample and exposed sample. Spectrophotometric measurements of sampl

13、es shall be taken with the specular component included (SPI) or with a 0/45 (45/0) geometry. The colorimetric data shall be calculated using CIE 1964 10 observer data for Illumination D65. Three points must be measured and averaged in a general region per measurement reported. Exposed samples may be

14、 washed with water and blotted dry with a clean cloth prior to measurement. 3.2.3 Procedure. All materials shall be tested per MPAPS GT-31 Method A for Interior Exposure using a Window-Q filter with an irradiance control point of 0.74 W/m2 at 420 nm. Energy requirements are defined in Table A.1 of M

15、PAPS GT-31. 3.3 Resistance to Scratch and Mar (MPAPS DT-16) 3.3.1 Application. All parts with visible surfaces in all color variants must be tested. All materials must be tested within a given component 3.3.2 Requirement. All scratch lines are to be evaluated with the visual inspection method define

16、d in MPAPS DT-16. The acceptance requirements for the IP and hard plastic trim are listed below. Both line rating and digital images of the lines must be submitted to Navistar Engineering for each of the loads measured. Samples are to be taken from flat areas of production intent parts. When flat areas do not exist, surrogate plaques with c

19、orrect color, grain, and processing conditions may be used. MPAPS GT-16, Method A: Taber Scratch Tests is to be used with 1 mm diameter sphere tips at 2.0, 3.0, 7.0, 10.0, and 15.0 N. Use of Method B, Erichsen Hardness testing must be approved by Navistar Engineering. 3.4 Colorfastness to Chemicals

20、and Cleaning Agents (MPAPS DT-12) 3.4.1 Application. All parts with visible surfaces in all color variants must be tested. All materials must be tested within a given component 3.4.2 Requirement. Evaluate samples with AATCC Evaluation Procedure 1: Grey Scale for Color Change or ISO 105-A02. Objectio

21、nable color change is defined as a measured color change of E 3 measured either before and after chemical exposure, or on an exposed and non-exposed sample. Spectrophotometric measurements of samples shall be taken with the specular component included (SPI) or with a 0/45 (45/0) geometry. The colori

22、metric data shall be calculated using CIE 1964 10 observer data for Illumination D65. Three points must be measured and averaged in a general region per measurement reported. 3.4.3 Procedure. All hard trim plastic parts shall be tested per MPAPS DT-12, Method A: Interior Parts. 3.5 Fogging Emissions

23、 (SAE J1756) 3.5.1 Application. Applies to all interior hard trim plastic components. 3.5.2 Requirement. A minimum fog number of 70 is required. Any formation of clear film, droplets, or crystals is cause for rejection. 3.5.3 Procedure. SAE J1756 for 3 hours at 100C, 21C cooling plate, and 16 hours

24、of post test conditioning. 3.6 Odor Emissions 3.6.1 Application. Applies to all interior hard trim plastic components. 3.6.2 Requirement. Maximum odor rating of 3: detectable, but not disturbing. The materials shall not exhibit any disturbing odors. 3.6.3 Procedure. Cut three samples of each materia

25、l from molded, production intent parts, approximately 90 mm x 120 mm. Suspend the three samples in a single, appropriate sized glass jar with a metal wire. Add 30 ml of de-ionized (DI) water to the bottom of the jar. The samples should not be touching or submerged in the water. Seal the jar and plac

26、e jar in a convection oven at 40C for 16 hours. Remove the jar from oven, open, and immediately rate the odor from the jar. The odor must be rated by a minimum of six observers who do not work in the production facility. Each observer should place their nose within 203 cm from the jar opening. Heavy

27、 smokers, users of strong aromatic perfumes or colognes, and people with sinus problems should be excluded from the exercise. Rate the odor on a scale of 1-4: 1. no odor- acceptable 2. detectable, but not disturbing odor- acceptable 3. disturbing- not acceptable 4. extremely disturbing- not acceptab

29、by Navistar, Inc. FEBRUARY 2014 Page 4 of 5 3.7 Impact Resistance (ASTM D5420) 3.7.1 Application. All visible hard trim plastic components. 3.7.2 Requirement. When the component is mounted either rin the vehicle body or a surrogate test fixture, any part in the foot area must withstand an impact of

30、4.0 J, all other visible parts must withstand an impact 2.5 J. Test pieces shall be visually examined for breakage or cracks. 3.7.3 Procedure. Secure the test plaque horizontally into a test fixture such that the ball will impact the sample at 90. Hold all sample plaques at -30C for a minimum of 12

31、hours prior to testing to equilibrate. All testing shall be performed in a cold chamber at -30C. Suspend a 510 g steel ball above the sample at a predetermined height. The drop height shall be calculated from the impact energy: where E= Impact Energy (J), m= ball mass (0.510 kg), g = gravity (9.81 m

32、2/s2), and h = height (m) Drop the ball onto the sample. Evaluate the sample for breakage or cracking. Perform impact test in all areas indicated on the part drawing or by Navistar Engineering. Report all results to Navistar Engineering. 3.8 Dimensional Stability/ Environmental Cycling/ Resistance t

33、o Temperature Cycling (MPAPS DT-18) 3.8.1 Application. Applies to all interior hard trim plastic components. Components must undergo one of four cycles, depending on their location with respect to direct sunlight and belt line, as defined in MPAPS DT-16. All IP and door trim located along windows mu

34、st undergo two cycles: one for thermal cycling and one for irradiation. 3.8.2 Requirement. The test component shall exhibit no significant surface changes, particularly changes in color or gloss, no cracking, crazing, or any other changes detrimental to serviceability. Objectionable odors, bubbling

35、or void formation, delamination or peeling, shrink, and warp are also unacceptable. The test piece shall comply with the dimensions and tolerances specified on the drawings after completion of the test. The dimensions of the entire test panel shall be checked for test compliance by the naked eye. Ad

36、ditionally, significant characteristic locations or locations requiring measurement shall be measured in both the x/y plane as well as in the z-direction through the x/y plane. Measurements shall be made with respect to a reference spot also indicated on the engineering drawing. All measurements sha

37、ll be included in the test report for approval. 3.8.3 Procedure. Test pieces shall be fixtured to simulate actual installed service conditions with appropriate constraints to simulate the interfacing components. The complete assembly shall undergo the cycle shown in MPAPS DT-18. The test cycle may b

38、e commenced at any of the individual stages provided the full cycle is sequentially completed. The cycle shall be carried out without interruption. If interruption is necessary, the part is allowed to set at ambient conditions during the interruption. This adjustment shall be noted in the test repor

39、t. 3.9 Environmental Stress Cracking Resistance (ISO 22088-3, ISO 527-2) 3.9.1 Application. All amorphous injection molded plastic parts (ABS, PC-ABS, PC, PMMA, SMA, ASA, PPO, etc) that have a migratory material within 5 mm of design tolerance or contact at any stage NUMBER: MPAPS D-19 TITLE: MATERI

Examples of migratory materials include, but are not limited to: foams, lubricants, greases, alcohols, oily metallic finishes, PVCs, etc. 3.9.2 Requirement. Per ISO 22088-3, 50% of the value on strained unexposed test specimen when tested per ISO 527-2. Tens

42、ile bar specimen shall be production intent, pre-colored. 3.9.3 Procedure. The amorphous and migratory material shall be strained 1% for 168 hours (seven days) per ISO 22088-3 Designation B3 at room temperature. 3.10 Oxidative Stability (ASTM D3012) 3.10.1 Application. Applicable to polypropylene (P

43、P), thermoplastic olefins (TPO), thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), or any plastic blend, composite, or laminate containing polyolefins. 3.10.2 Requirement. No visible indication of local discoloration and/ or brittleness from material degradation. 3.10.3 Procedure. Test per ASTM D3012. Test specimens o

44、f approximately 10 mm x 50 mm shall be cut from specimens at part thickness. Samples shall be tested in an oven at 150C for seven days (168 hours). 3.11 Touch Deflection 3.11.1 Application. Applies to all hard trim plastic components. 3.11.2 Requirement. Test at all locations indicated by Navistar E

45、ngineering. Maximum Deflection High Touch Zone 1.0 mm Medium Touch Zone 1.5 mm Low Touch Zone 3.0 mm 3.11.3 Procedure. Apply a 22 N (5 pound) load using a 10 mm disc normal to the component surface. The depth of deflection should be measured using a force gauge. 4.0 TECHNICAL INFORMATION For further
