4、use. 1.0 APPLICATION This specification applies to elastomeric coatings, generally polyurea, urethane and hybrids of those polymers. This specification may be applied to chemicals purchased to coat parts or parts coated by a supplier. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers the qualification and process
5、ing, quality, quality control and source approval, and packaging requirements of chemicals and finished parts. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the MPAPS B-50 specificatio
6、n. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. 8、e exact processes and/or materials to be used in providing finished parts. The control of the primer quality and its application are the responsibility of the supplier. All finished coated parts shall be compatible with all subsequent NAVISTAR operations. 4.1 Qualification of Coatings 4.1.1 Material
9、/Process Approvals The coatings and pre-treatments used by the supplier must be approved by Materials Engineering prior to their first use in production. In addition, parts coated with the materials and applications processes/methods to be used by the supplier shall be approved by Materials Engineer

11、CH 2017 Page 2 of 8 approval, no deviation in materials and/or manufacturing processes are permitted without approval by Materials Engineering. 4.1.2 Material The initial qualification tests of paint shall be performed on parts formed from the same material and by the same process in which the finis
12、hed parts are specified. These panels shall be coated with the materials to be tested using the procedure listed below. In cases where a primer is specified in addition to the topcoat, the panels shall contain both coatings applied by the intended production process. These panels shall be submitted
13、to Materials Engineering for approval with the vendors test results. Final qualification shall be performed on the finished part prior to production release. 4.1.3 Sample Preparation 4.1.3.1 A minimum of three (3) parts shall be submitted for qualification for each test. 4.1.3.2 Prior to coating, th
14、e samples shall be cleaned with solvents or cleaners as necessary. This operation shall simulate production procedure. 4.1.3.3 The primer, if applicable, shall be applied to a minimum dry film thickness per the manufacturers recommended process. 4.1.3.4 The coated samples shall be cured by means whi
15、ch simulate production procedures. 4.2 Testing Finish painted parts, primed or unprimed, when coated with approved materials will meet the applicable requirements listed in Table 1. 4.2.1 Coatings used in flooring applications will meet the requirements listed in the table below in addition to Table

MARCH 2017 Page 3 of 8 5.0 QUALITY Painted parts shall be adherent and uniform in color and texture, wit
21、h no thin spots, runs, wrinkles, porosity, pits, blisters or nodules. Material supplied shall be free from objectionable odor, be of uniform quality, and shall match performance properties of pre-production approved material. Pre-production samples of material sufficient for complete test and evalua
22、tion should be submitted to Materials Engineering for approval 5.1 Porosity In instances where porosity is not detectable until after the primed substrate has been painted, isolated cases of porosity as defined in Table 4 shall not be cause for rejection. Porosity that is chronic and requires signif
23、icant amounts of rework shall be cause for rejection and it is the responsibility of the supplier to correct this condition. The supplier has the responsibility to provide quality primed parts which will not cause delayed defects after finishing in the using plant. This condition will require close
24、cooperation with the paint facility and with Materials Engineering. 5.2 Appearance Requirements Specific appearance requirements are given in Table 3. Appearance requirements are specified for the following zones or locations on the vehicle: 5.2.1 Zone I Primary: exterior, glamour surfaces such as h
25、oods and fender exteriors, including visible edges, bumpers, grilles, cab fronts, sides, doors, corners, and lower aerodynamic fairings. 5.2.2 Zone II Secondary: exterior, glamour surfaces such as cab tops, cab backs (between corner radii), and upper aerodynamic fairings. Also, primary interior, sur
26、faces, such as engine covers. 5.2.3 Zone III Recessed exterior or interior surfaces, such as door openings, door ends, painted grab handles, and floors or beds. 5.2.4 Zone IV Hidden areas, such as those covered in assembly and under hood or body. 5.2.5 Inspection Conditions Parts shall be inspected
27、for appearance requirements at a distance of two feet under a light intensity of 100 foot-candles minimum at the part surface. 5.3 Qualification Samples shall be accompanied by test data certifying that all requirements of the specification have been met. Data submitted shall include the following:
28、5.3.1 Report: A detailed and signed report documenting testing to this specification prepared in accordance with MPAPS P-9543. The report will include actual test data and not merely test summaries. 5.3.2 Failure Modes: Test samples or photographs showing failure modes for each destructive test 5.3.
29、3 Test Procedure: The procedures used for preparing and testing material. 5.3.4 Analysis: A detailed analysis of the test results including assumptions made, unexpected results and an explanation of any non-compliant results. 5.3.5 Material: Pre-production material sufficient for complete test and e
30、valuation by Navistar 5.4 Submission The material and test report shall be submitted to: Materials Engineering, Navistar Inc., 10400 W. North Ave, Melrose Park, IL 60160. MARCH 2017 Page 4 of 8 5.5 Approval A report from Navistar will be issued, approving material to this specification. Approval is not formally grant
32、ed until this report has been published. A change to this specification listing the new approval may be delayed. The approval report serves as authorization for the use of that system prior to the changes to this specification. 6.0 QUALIFICATION Engineering qualification of sources is required in ad
33、vance of production shipments. Samples shall be accompanied by test data certifying that all requirements of the specification have been met. Suppliers shall submit samples for approval of finish, luster, color and appearance to the Navistar Industrial Design Group. Upon approval, styling master sam
34、ples denoting the minimum level of acceptable appearance quality shall be developed and retained by the supplier and the quality department of each using NAVISTAR facility. 6.1 Quality Control Plan A Quality Control Plan for products supplied to the requirements of this specification will be establi
35、shed by mutual agreement between NAVISTAR and the supplier. Unless specific exception is noted, the following characteristics, where applicable*, shall be included in the plan as features for management by statistical process control.* * Other characteristics for inclusion in the control plan may be
36、 specified on the engineering drawing and/or purchase order. * See NAVISTAR Engineering Design Standard A-16 7.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 7.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS
37、-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Corporate Buye
38、r upon request. 7.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that ch
39、anges in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify NAVISTAR Materials Engineering and Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this
40、specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 7.3 Process Control The supplier shall either, perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts pro
41、duced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. Parts shall be packaged so as to avoid a
