3、ER, IMPULSE The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description, for all federal agencies. 1. SCOPE. This commercial item description covers impulse heat sealers capable of sealing odor barrier bags used in submarine plastic waste processing. 2. SALIENT CHA

4、RACTERISTICS. 2.1 Sealer performance parameters. Heat seals produced by the heat sealer unit on the Type II odor barrier bags, as specified by MIL-PRF-29597, shall be pull tested per method specified in ASTM F88/F88M, and meet or exceed the minimum peel strength of 2,500 PSI. Seals produced shall no

5、t have any burn marks, excessively melted surfaces, or open voids in the material surface. 2.2 Sealer mechanism. The heat sealer unit shall use dual heating elements (one element per jaw) to provide the sealing heat. The impulse heat shall be generated when an electric current flows through the heat

6、ing elements as unit is activated by user. An electric current shall heat the heating element for a specified time to create the required seal as specified in 2.1. 2.3 Seal dimensions. The heat sealer unit shall provide a continuous seal with a minimum seal length of 18 inches not to exceed 20 inche

7、s, and a seal width ranging between a minimum of 316 inch to inch. When the bag material is placed in the heat sealer, the bag opening shall be held stable by the sealing jaw. 2.3 Portability. The heat sealer shall be hand-held, light-weight, and portable, and allow the user to bring the sealer open

8、ing to the target bag for heat sealing, with the ability to position the sealer opening in any direction. The heat sealer jaw shall not be table supported. 2.4 Sealer operation. The following characteristics are required during the sealer operation: a. The heat seal operation shall be activated by a

9、n activation switch located directly on the heat sealer handle. b. The sealer shall have factory preset temperature and time settings in order to provide the required seal as specified in 2.1. The preset settings shall be made inaccessible to the user. c. An indicator light indicating completion of

10、sealing operation shall be mounted on the heat sealer handle or power supply. d. The sealing operation shall not require more than one (1) person to perform the heat seal. 2.5 Dimension and weight. The heat sealer unit dimensions and weight shall not exceed the following: a. Sealer jaw handset. (1)

11、Overall jaw length 21 inches. (2) Overall jaw height 11 inches. (3) Overall hand grip length 11 inches. (4) Weight 5 pounds. Total weight of sealer handset, control box, and cables 26 pounds. 2.6 Power requirements. a. The unit shall be e

13、lectrically powered, capable of operating on 110 115 volts, 60 hertz, 15 amps. b. Electrical components (heating elements, wires, etc.) and connections shall be insulated and/or covered to minimize and prevent the risk of electrical shock. 2.7 Replaceable components. The following heat sealer compon

14、ents are to be easily removable for replacement of damaged or worn items: a. The dual heating elements (one element per jaw) shall be removable for replacement of worn or damaged heating elements. b. The sealer jaw assembly shall have a power cable with a quick disconnect or bayonet type connector e

15、nd for replacement of either the sealer jaw assembly or the power supply control box. 3. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE PROVISIONS. 3.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this Commercial Item Description, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, s

16、tandards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 4. PACKAGING. Preservation, packing, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order. 5. NOTES. 5.1 So
