SOPE

2、 1.1 Scope. ?his specification covers two types of preformed sealing conpound for filling voids in a guided missile rocket mtor. 1.2 types 2 Classification. as specified (see 6.2) : ?he sealing compound shall be of the following Type 1 Extruded tape Type II Extruded bead 2. The material shall be uniform in quality, consistently applied to the paper backing, and free of impurities or any other defect that would pre

9、vent its use for the purpose intended. 4. QUALITY ASSURANa PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. A lot shall consist of material from one manufacturers lot produced without change in process or ingredients and offered for acceptance at one time. 4.3 Sampling. A representa

12、tive sample of each lot shall be selected for testing. 4.4 Quality conformance inspection. The material shall be subjected to all the following inspections and tests for acceptance. When specified in the contract see 6.2), the contractor shall prepare a report giving the results obtdned for all insp

13、ections and tests performed and a certified statement that the lot meets al1 the requirements of this speci- fication. 14、ections applied where significant. Where 4.4.1 Infrared spectrum. Infrared spectrum shall be detemined in accordance with the following: a. Report the average of a minimum of 2 determinations 4.4.3 Zinc chromate content. Zinc chromate content shall be detemiined in accordance with the following: a.

20、 -Reagents: (1) Sodiun carbonate, anhydrous (2) Sodim nitrate (3) Ligroin (4) Zinc chromate, purified (Fisher Scientific Co. U-35) b. Solutions: (I) Sodium carbonate solution, prepared by dissolving approx- imately 10 g of sodium carbonate in 500 ml of distilled water. (2) Zinc chromate solution, pr

21、epared by adding 0.100 g of zinc chromate and 0.500 g of a mixture of 10 parts by weight (pbw) sodim carbonate and 1 pbw sodiun nitrate into a suitable crucible. mixture until complete decomposition has been effected. to 40 ml of distilled water. Wet a number (No.) 42 filter paper with a small amoun

22、t of hot (60 to 8OOC) sodium carbonate solution. the mixture through the wet filter paper into a 100 ml volumetric flask. Wash the precipitate with sufficient sodium carbonate solution to bring to 100 ml volune. Mix well. Fuse the Leach with 30 Filter (3) Color standard solutions, prepared by adding

23、 0.002 g (2 ml), 0.004 g (4 ml), 0.006 g (6 mi), and 0.008 g (8 ml.) aliquots of the zinc chromate solution to four Nessler tubes and diluting each to 50 ml with sodiun carbonate solution. Add approximately 40 ml of ligtmin and allow to stand for a minimm of 16 hours. washing in the tube. Add mre

25、 ligroin to nearly fill the tube. CentrifTe until the pigment is settled (approximately 30 minute). supernatant liquid. Add mre solvent, mix with a stirring rod, centrifuge, and decant for a minimm of four times. Set the tube on top of a wann oven for approximately one hour and then place in an oven

26、 at 105O to uoC, for appmximately 2 hours. pigment with a rod and place 1 to 2 g, weighed to the nearest rrig (weight GY) , into a previously weighed crucible. a mixture of 10 pbw sodiun carbonate and 1 pbw sodium nitrate. Fuse the mixture until complete decomposition has been effected. 30 to 35 ml

31、Procedure: Weigh 25 g of sample to the nearest 0.1 g. Fb11 the sample into a ball. Clean two glass plates approximately 0.8 x 82 x 101m in size) with a suitable solvent and wipe dry. Cbndition the ball and glass Plates for 120 f 5 minutes at 250 10 and 50 & 5 percent relative humidity. Place the sam

32、ple ball between the glass plates and apply a 4.54 kg weight evenly distributing the weight over the ball. 6.5 minutes L 10 second and before disassembly measure the greatest &-ter of the sample ball which is determined by measuring the wetted area on the glass. The inspector shall ascertain that the packaging and marking conform to the requirements of this specification by visual examination. 5. PAC

35、XAGING 5.1 Packaging. 5.1.1 Conmercial. ?he material shall be packaged in accordance with the contrac&Fs best accepted comnercial practice. 5.2 Packing. 5.2.1 Cbmercial.
