SCOPE 1.1 This specification covers the requirements for one type ultra-high frequency (uhf) center fed dipole antenna intended for fixed sit

6、IL-STD-831 - Test Reports, Preparation Of. Distribution . (Copies of specifications and standards required by suppliers in connection with specific procurement functions should be obtained from the procuring activity or as directed by the contracting officer.) 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. The

7、first article is defined as an antenna which shall be identical to the product the supplier will subsequently produce in fulfillment of the contract. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.21, as soon as practicable after award of the contract or order and prior to submission of any completed units for f

8、inal acceptance, the contractor shall furnish three first articles for testing under the direction and supervision of the cognizant Government inspector to determine con- formance to this specification. Examination and tests shall be as specified herein. Approval of the first article by the activity

9、 concerned shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility to supply antennas conforming to this specification. Any changes or deviations of the production units from the first articles shall be sUbject to the approval of the contracting officer. The first articles shall not be included in th

10、e final shipment as part of the total quantity to be furnished under contract or order. 3.2 Parts, materials and processes. Parts, materials and processes shall be in accordance with MIL-E-16400 except as otherwise specified herein. that requirements cannot be met by use of parts and materials as sp

11、ecified in MIL-E-16400, immediate action shall be taken by the contractor to inform the contracting officer by submission of detailed data in accordance with MIL-E-16400, requesting approval. 3.2.1 Nonstandard parts. Wherever possible, only material and parts which are nonnutrient to fungus shall be used. All other parts and material shall be treated as specified in MIL-STD-454 prior to use

13、in the antenna. Moisture fungusproofing of the overall antenna shall not be permitted. 3.3 Desiqn and construction. The antenna shall be a center-fed, ground independent, small uhf unit covering the 225 to 400 megahertz (MHz) range with a voltage standing wave ratio (vswr) of 2:l or better. 3.3.1 Po

14、larization. The antenna shall be designed for vertical polarization. 3.3.2 Mountinq. Antenna mounting assemblies shall not be a component of the antenna. The base of the antenna shall be constructed in a manner to make it capable of being mounted by a 2-1/2-inch wide clamp or bracket support. 3.3.3

15、Input.-cJmnect.or. The input connector shall be HN female series conformins to MIL-C-3643 and shall have mating dimensions as specified therein. 3.3.4 Cable. The cable from the input connector to the radiating elements shall be RG-l88A/U in accordance with MIL-C-17/69. 3.3.5 Frequency ranqe. The ant

16、enna shall be capable of satisfactory operation without hiatus at any frequency throughout the 225 through 400-MHz range. Mechanical tuning to operate the antenna at any specified frequency in this range shall not be required after initial manu- f acturing or factory adjustment. 3.3.6 Gain. The gain

17、, from 225 tlirogh i.e., the antenna shall not deviate in any way or degree from its pretest performance. The antenna shall be subjected to the altitude test of MIL-STD-810

19、, Method 500, procedure I, except that the maximum temperature shall be 71OC. test shall last for 15 hours and shall employ the greatest rate of pressure change possible. Pretest and post-test operation shall consist of testing the frequency range requirements in accordance with 4.6.2.1. The 4.6.3.2

20、 Hiqh temperature. The antenna shall be sub- jected to the high temperature test of MIL-STD-810, Method 501, procedure I. The maximum temperature of the test shall be 71OC. Operation before, during, and after testing shall consist of testing.the frequency range requirements in accordance with 4.6.2.

21、1. 4.6.3.3 Low temperature. The antenna shall be subjected to the low temperature test of MIL-STD-810, method502, procedure I. maintained for a period of 48 hours. Operation before, during, and after this test shall consist of testing the frequency range requirements in accordance with 4.6.2.1. 4.6.

22、3.4 Temperature shock. The antenna shall be subjected to the temperature shock test of MIL-STD-810, method 503, procedure I. Pretest andpost-test operation shall consist of testing the frequency range requirements in accordance with 4.6.2.1. The low temperature of the test shall be -54OC, 4.6.3.5 Ra

23、in. A simulated rainfall equivalent to 4 inches per hour shall be applied to the antenna under the following conditions and in the order specified: (a) The antenna shall be erected in its normal (b) During the first hour, the rainfall shall be operating position with the antenna nonoperating. vertic

25、 rf power, within the operating frequency range of the antenna, 300 percent amplitude modulated, shall be applied for 2 minutes. the perpendicular for 1 hour, 15 minutes to a side, then back to the vertical for 1 hour and the power test in 4.6.2.4 repeated. The antenna shall be subjected to the fungusproofness test of MIL-STD-810, Method 508, for a test period of 28 days. The pretest and post-test examination shall include th

28、e visual inspection specified in 4.6.1, and the test for frequency range requirements in accordance with 4.6.2.1. 4.6.3.8 Salt foq. The antenna shall be subjected to the salt fog test of MIL-STD-810, Method 509, procedure I. Pretest, 24-hour test, and post-test operation shall test for frequency ran

29、ge requirements in accordance with 4.6.2.1. 4.6.3.9 Dust. The antenna shall be subjected to the dust test of MIL-STD-810, Method 510, procedure I, with the exception that the temperature range shall be 25OC to 71C and the maximum wind velocity shall be 2,500 - +500 feet per minute. so that each side

30、 shall have equal exposure to comparable test conditions. Pretest and post-test operation shall test for frequency range requirements in accordance with 4.6.2.1. L The test antenna shall be rotated 4.6.3.10 Vibration. The antenna shall be subjected to the vibration test of MIL-STD-810, Method 514, a

31、ccording to equipment category F, procedure 1 (parts 1,2,3) , curve Y, and time schedule 1. 32、nation specified in 4.6.1, and the test for frequency range requirements specified in 4.6.2.1. 4.6.3.11 Shock. The antenna shall be subjected to the shock test of MIL-STD-810, Method 516, procedure I. This test shall employ the terminal peak saw tooth shock pulse configuration with amplitude b and t

33、ime duration d. Following completion of procedure I, the antenna shall be subjected to procedure II of MIL-STD-810, Method 516,for transit shock testing. A total of 26 drops from a 30-inch height shall be performed. Pretest and post-test operation shall test for frequency range requirements in accor

34、dance with 4.6.2.1. 4.6.3.12 Wind. The antenna, with an approved method of mounting, shall be subjected to a direct or simulated wind load equivalent to a wind of 100 miles per hour (mi/h) for a period of 1 hour. Pretest and post-test operation shall test for frequency range requiremencs in accordan

35、ce with 4.6.2.1. 4.6.3.13 Ice. The antenna shall be loaded with 1 inch of radial ice and subjected to a 60 mi/h wind for 1 hour. Operation before, during, and after this test shall consist of testing frequency range requirements in accordance with 4.6.2.1. 4.6.4 Reliabilitv tests. Reliability tests

36、to demonstrate conformance to 3.4 shall be performed in accordance with MIL-STD-781, test level F, test plan III. Temperature cycling, voltage cycling, and duty cycling shall conform to MIL-STD-781. The first articles and selected sample antennas shall be subjected to the reliability test program as

37、 specified herein, immediately after undergoing the visual, electrical, and environmental tests required in 4.6.1, 4.6.2, and 4.6.3. Electrical performance of the antenna shall not be affected by any test applied. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Preservation, packaqinq and packinq. Preservation, pac

In addition to any special marking required by the contract or order, unit packages, intermediate packages and ehipping containers shall be marked in accordance with the requirements of MIL-STD-129. 60 NOTES 6.1 Intended use. This antenna is to be employed as a omnidirectional, lightweight,

40、 mobile or fixed site antenna for use with tactical radio equipmenL in the frequency spectrum of 225 to 400 MHz. This antenna is ideally suited for general use in either.-mobile or fixed-station applications. 6.2 Orderina data. Purchasers should exercise any desired options offered herein, and procu

41、rement documents should specify the following: 6.2.1 Procurement rea uirements. (a) Title, number and date of this specification. (b) Whether first article is required (see 3.1). (c) Level of preservation, packaqing and packinq (see 5.1) O 6.2-2 Contract data reauirements. Data conforming to Data It

42、em Descriptions DI-E-4527, DI-E-4528, DI-E-4542, will usually be required for delivery in connection with this specification, When so required, such data will be specified for delivery on A DD Form 1423 included in the contract.
