This specification covers the requirements for the remanufacture and acceptance of the M17 Gas Generator, referred to herein as “gas generator.“ 2. 21、5) is defined as a primary component. Only one lot of primary components shall be used in each lot of gas generators, although, a primary component lot may be used in more than one gas generator lot. The gas generator lot shall contain only one M37 Impulse Cartridge lot manufactured and accepted wit
22、hin 12 months of completed gas generator lot assemblies. 3.3 Gas generator production. The gas generators shall be remanufactured in accordance with this specification, the documents listed herein and as described in specification MIL-G-60624. Each production gas generator or component, as applicabl
23、e, shall meet the requirements of 3.3.1 through 3.3.2.4, respectively. 24、1 Gas generator caps and chambers (Drawings 10522493 and 10522496). 3.3.1.1 Protective finish. For any gas generator cap or chamber having a nonconforming exterior protective finish, the existing finish shall be stripped from the part. Following the stripping operation, a finish meeting 1.1.2.2 of M
25、IL-STD-171 shall be applied to the exterior of the gas generator caps and chambers. (Note: The Nylon pellets (see Drawing 10522496) shall be removed from the chamber body prior to the stripping operation and discarded.) 3.3.1.2 Hydrostatic pressure. Each gas generator cap and chamber, after applicat
26、ion of protective finish per 3.3.1.1, shall be tested to withstand a pressure of 9250 f 250 psig for a duration of 15 seconds without deformation or mechanical failure (For definition see 6.4.1). 3.3.2 Gas generator inspection. 3.3.2.1 Visual inspection. All gas generators and components remanufactu
27、red under contract shall be visually inspected and screened for defects as outlined in 4.5.1. 3.3.2.2 Breakaway torque. breakaway torque is applied in accordance with 4.5.2. There shall be no indication of movement or deformation when a 3.3.2.3 Residual magnetism. Gas generators shall not deflect an
28、 approved pilots standby compass more than 5 degrees in either direction when passed in front of the compass at a distance of 6 inches. The gas generators shall be tested in accordance with 4.5.3. 3.3.2.4 Radiographic inspection. Gas generators shall show proper assembly, presence of parts, and seal
29、ing when examined radiographically in accordance with 4.5.4. 3.4. Ballistic requirements. Gas generators shall meet the requirements of 3.4.1. through 3.4.4 when tested in accordance with 4.5.5. 3.4.1 Shear delay time. The upper (U) limit for shear delay shall be U= 150 milliseconds when tested in a
30、ccordance with 4.5.5.1. 3.4.2 Velocity. The lower (L) limit for velocity shall be 120 feet per second when tested in accordance with 4.5.5.2. 3.4.3 Misfire. There shall be no misfires. 3.4.4 Mechanical failure. Gas generators shall function without mechanical failure. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
31、. 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order (see 6.2), the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements(examinati0ns and tests) as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order,

The Government re
33、serves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in this specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to ensure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items shall meet all requirements of section 3 and 5. The inspec
34、tion set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies submitted to the
35、Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contractor. Sampling inspection, as part of manufacturing operations, is an acceptable practice to ascertain conformance to requirements, however, this does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual,
36、 nor does it commit the Government to accept defective material. 4.2 Inspection conditions. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), all inspections shall be performed under the following conditions: a. Temperature: 68“ to 77F b. Altitude: Sea Level c. Humidity: 50 percent relative, maximum. 4.3 Classi
37、fication OF inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. Quality Conformance Inspection (see 4.3.1) b. Production inspection (see 4.3.2) c. Lot acceptance inspection (see 4.3.3) 4.3.1 Quality conformance inspection. 4.3.1.1 Component iot(s). Formation, iden
38、tification and submission of gas generator component lots shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105. 4.3.1.2 Metal part component lot size. The maximum lot size for metal part components shall be 2500 maximum, provided the homogeneity requirements of inspection lots have been retained. 4.3.1.3 Examina
39、tion. Four power (4X) magnification may be used in performing visual examination for such defects as burr and foreign matter. Inspection for rubber O-rings shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-413. When compliance with the applicable requirement is in doubt as a result of visual examination, the char
40、acteristic shall be measured or gaged to determine acceptability. 4.3.1.3.1 Reusable item examination. Of the reusable items (see 3.1.2), 100 percent examination shall be performed for all critical characteristics. Examination for major and minor defects shall be performed in accordance with MIL-STD
41、-105, General Inspection Level I. All production gas generators remanufactured under contract shall be inspected and screened to requirements specified in 3.2 through 3.3.2.4. Any unit failing to meet the requirements listed in 3.2 through 3
48、.3.2.4 shall be rejected and removed from the lot. 4.3.3 Lot acceptance inspection. Lot acceptance inspection shall consist of the examinations and tests specified in table I. Failure of any sample gas generator to comply with the requirements listed in table I shall be cause for rejection of the lo
49、t represented. 4.3.3.1 Sample size. A random sample from each production lot, including the retained sample for investigative purposes, shall be selected in accordance with table II for lot acceptance inspection.
