SCOPE 1.1 Sco

2、pe, This specification covers the require- ments for two types of inflation assembly beaded handles. 1.2 Classification. The inflation assembly beaded handles shall be of the following types (see 6.2): TYPE I - II AP PL I CATION FLU-8A/P Inflator LPU-21 B/P Li fe Preserver LRU-18IU Life Raft 2. APPL

7、on functions should be obtained from the acquiring activity or as directed by the contracting officer.) 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. When specified (see 6.2), the contractor shall furnish sample units for first article inspection and approval (see 4.3 and 6.3). 3.2 Materials and components. Ma

8、terials and compo- nents shall conform to the applicable specifications and drawings as listed or required herein. 3.3 Design and construction. The beaded handles shall be constructed in accordance with NAVAIR Drawing 975AS121. 3.3.1 Stitching. All the machine stitching shall be accomplished with St

9、itch Type 301 of FED-STD-751. eight to ten stitches per inch. Unless otherwise specified, the ends of the stitching shall be backstitched by overlapping on itself, a minimum of 1/2 inch. back of the break, a minimum of 1/2 inch. The thread tension shall be maintained so that there shall not be any l

10、oose or tight stitching and the lock shall be embedded in the materials sewn together. to 3/8 inch. Unless otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein, Except as otherw

13、ise specified in the contract, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assu

14、re supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. The Government reserves the right to perform any of 4.2 Classification of inspection. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: 1. First article inspection (see 4.3). 2. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4

15、). 4.3 First article. 4.3.1 First article samples. Unless otherwise speci- fied, as soon as practicable after award of the contract or order, the manufacturer shall submit three beaded handles. The samples shall be representative of the construction, workmanship, compo- nents, and materials to be us

16、ed during production. When a manufac- turer is in continuous production of these beaded handles from contract to contract, submission of further first article samples on the new contract may be waived at the discretion of the acquiring activity (see 6.2d). waiving of the first article inspection doe

21、spection Dimensional Inspection Breaking Strength of the Lanyards Preparation for Delivery 4.4.1 Sampling 4.4.1.1 Inspection lot. The inspecton lot size shall be expressed in units of one beaded handle made from the same material and under the same conditions, one beaded handle, The sample unit shal

22、l be 4.4.1.2 Preparation for delivery. The inspection lot size shall be expressed in units of one fully prepared shipping container, containing one type of beaded handle. The sample unit shall be one shipping container fully prepared for delivery except that it need not be sealed. 4.5 Inspection met

23、hods, The inspection methods, sample size and acceptance criteria shall conform to Table I. 4.5.1 Visual examinations. Each beaded handle shall be examined for critical defects to determine conformance to this specification. lot, shall be examined visually for minor defects to determine conformance

27、handle webbing at the end opposite the 975AS121-2 lanyard. For the Type I handles, only the lanyard under test shall be looped on the mandrel, and neither the releasing pin, over-hand knot nor 1arkI.s head knot will be installed on the 975AS121-5 lanyard. Test results shall conform to requirements s

28、et forth in Table III. 4.5.4 Preparation for delivery. Each of the fully prepared shipping containers shall be visually examined to determine that the packaging, packing, and marking conform to this specifica- tion. Packaging shall be level A or minimum protection, as specified (see 6.2f). 5.1.1 . Level A. Each beaded handle shall be placed into a clear polyethylene bag along with an ident

30、ification label. 5.1.2 Minimum protection. The beaded handle of one type shall be packaged to afford the minimum degree of protection necessary to prevent damage during shipment under normal environ- mental conditions and commercial modes of transportation. 5.2 Packing. Packing shall be level A or m

31、inimum protection as specified (see 6.2f). 5.2.1 Level A. Fifty beaded handles, packaged as specified in 5.1, shall be packed in a fiberboard shipping container, except that the fiberboard container shall be weather-resistant class, variety SW, grade V3c and V3S. In addition, each container shall be

32、 reinforced with flat steel strapping or tape banding in accordance with the appendix to PPP-B-636. 5.2.2 Minimum protection. The packaged beaded handles shall be packed in a manner that will insure safe transportation at the lowest rate to the point of delivery. Containers shall conform to the mini

33、mum requirements of the rules and regulations applicable to the mode of transportation selected. 5.3 Marking. Unit and shipping containers shall be marked in accordance with the requirements of MIL-STD-129. 6. NOTES 6.1 Intended use. Beaded handles together with the appropriate inflation device are

34、intended for use as emergency and life support equipment by personnel forced down at sea. 6.2 Acquisition requirements. Acquisition documents shall specify the following: a. Title, number, type and date of this cpeci- f ication. b. Government part number. c. Quantity desired. d. Whether first articl
