1、AMSC N/A FSC 6140 INCH-POUND MIL-PRF-81757/15B(AS)4 February 2011 SUPERSEDING MIL-PRF-81757/15A(AS)10 April 2009 PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATION SHEET BATTERY, STORAGE, AIRCRAFT, NICKEL-CADMIUM, HIGH RATE, 24-VOLT, 25-AMPERE-HOUR, LOW-MAINTENANCE, VENTED This specification is approved for use by the Naval
2、 Air Systems Command and is available for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. The requirements for acquiring the product described herein shall consist of this specification sheet and MIL-PRF-81757. REQUIREMENTS: 1. Part or identifying number. The part or identifying nu
3、mbers (PINs) of the batteries covered by MIL-PRF-81757/15 shall be M81757/15-1, M81757/15-2, and M81757/15-3, collectively known as M81757/15-X. The M81757/15-X is a limited-repair, low-maintenance, vented battery. The main differences concern different mounting configurations, weight, capacity, and
4、 power. 1.1 Harness connector assembly identifying number. The removable harness connector assembly PIN shall be M81757/15-4. The M81757/15-4 harness connector assembly is a removable and replaceable item, but shall not be repairable. The removable harness connector assembly PIN M81757/15-4 shall be
5、 installed as an integral part of PIN M81757/15-3. PIN M81757/15-4 may be purchased as an individual item separately from the PIN M81757/15-3 battery. 1.2 Harness connector assembly markings. The harness connector assembly shall contain identification markings that show the following: military part
6、or identifying number (PIN), national stock number (NSN), contractors Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) code or manufacturers name, and contract number. The identification markings label shall be attached to the wires (W7) or (W8) of the assembly as identified on figure 10. 2. Dimensions and w
7、eight. The dimensions and weight of the battery shall be as specified in 3.10.8, as modified herein and as shown on figures 1 through 7 and figure 20 contained in this specification sheet. The exterior dimensions of each cell container shall be identical to the exterior dimensions of PIN M81757/1-4.
8、 3. Capacity. The initial capacity of the M81757/15-1 and M81757/15-2 batteries shall be not less than 27.5 ampere-hours (Ah). 9、15B(AS) 2 less than 29 ampere-hours (Ah). The minimum capacity of the M81757/15-X battery shall be not less than 25 Ah. See 3.10.14 as modified herein. 4. Interface requirements between battery and test fixtures. The battery shall contain 19 cells. The cells and other interior components of the batt
10、ery shall be arranged and positioned as shown on figures 8 and 9 herein. The cell terminals shall be vertically and horizontally positioned so that each cell terminal shall mate with its matching electrical connection of the cell scanner fixture, PIN 371AS264 and the cell equalization fixture, PIN 3
11、71AS265. The fasteners specified on figures 8 and 9 of this specification sheet and 3.7.9 of MIL-PRF-81757 are required due to interfaces with the MS3509 receptacle and the cell discharge fixture. 5. Battery partition. The battery partition that contains the center row of cells and interfaces with t
12、he exterior side wall of cell number 16 (counting from the batterys negative terminal) shall be constructed of thermally conductive material. The height of the partition shall be not less than the height of the plates within cell number 16. The partitions surface adjacent to the side wall of cell nu
13、mber 16 shall be smooth and shall contact the cells side wall. Spacers or air passages shall not be present at this interface. The partition shall have rigidity and strength to contain cell number 16 for the life of the battery without warping or breaking. The partition shall not distort due to unde
14、rgoing any or all of the tests in MIL-PRF-81757 or MIL-PRF-81757/15. REQUIREMENTS 6. MIL-PRF-81757 variance. The battery shall comply with MIL-PRF-81757 except as follows. 6.1 Modify the following paragraph: 3.7.2 Battery container and cover. Delete the entire text and substitute: “The battery conta
15、iner, mounting flanges (M81757/15-3 only), and cover shall be made of a material that is impervious to salt spray and to an aqueous solution of potassium hydroxide of 1.30 0.04 specific gravity (see 6.10.1 of MIL-PRF-81757) and an alternate electrolyte if used. The container and cover may be constru
16、cted of materials that are not identical. If the cover material is electrically conductive, it shall be protected with an electrically insulating material (such as paint, epoxy, or powder coating). The protective material shall be impervious to salt spray and to an aqueous solution of potassium hydr
17、oxide of 1.30 0.04 specific gravity (see 3.8.1, as modified herein and 6.10.1 of MIL-PRF-81757) and an alternate electrolyte if used. Such protective materials shall not be applied to the battery container or flanges except as indicated in 3.8.1, as modified herein. The battery container, flanges, a
18、nd cover shall be free of pits, blow holes, rough spots, and other deformations. The dimensions and locations of receptacles, hold-downs, latches (catches and strikes), vent tubes, and battery identification shall conform to figures 1 through 6 of this specification sheet. The cover shall be fitted

The cover gasket/cell hold-down pad shall conform t
20、o figure 7 of this specification sheet. The cover pad/gasket shall be sized and fitted to match the rim of the container body for a gastight fit and effective fluid seal between the cover and the container body. Metal or wood products (such as cork) shall not be used as the gasket. If elastomers are
21、 used as the gasket, the elastomer shall conform to the requirements of 3.10.3 of MIL-PRF-81757 (see 6.10.2 of MIL-PRF-81757).” 6.2 Add the following paragraphs: “3.7.2.1 Hold-down pad (PIN M81757/15-1 only). The location of the projections shall be determined by the location of either the intercell
22、 connectors or the vented filler caps. The projections shall either contact each intercell connector or cover the entire top surface of each vented filler cap. The projections shall apply enough force on each contacted item to restrain vertical movement of the cells during vibration in accordance wi
23、th 4.5.16 of MIL-PRF-81757 and 4.5.33 as specified herein. If the battery cover is made from an electrically conductive material, then a rigid insulating liner 0.062 0.007 inch thick shall be placed between the inside top surface of the container cover and the cover pad/gasket. The liner shall provi
24、de complete coverage of the inside top surface of the container cover and shall conform to the requirements of 3.10.3 or 3.10.4, both of MIL-PRF-81757 as applicable (see 6.10.2 of MIL-PRF-81757).“ “3.7.2.2 Hold-down pad (PINs M81757/15-2 and M81757/15-3 only). The location of the projections shall b
25、e determined by the location of each vented filler cap. The projections shall contact each vented filler cap and shall apply enough force on each vented filler cap to restrain vertical movement of the cells during vibration in accordance with 4.5.16 of MIL-PRF-81757 (M81757/15-2 only) or both 4.5.16
26、, as specified in MIL-PRF-81757 and 4.5.33, as specified herein (M81757/15-3 only).“ “3.7.2.3 Mounting flanges (PIN M81757/15-3 only). The dimensions and locations of the mounting flanges shall conform to figure 3 of this specification sheet. The flanges shall be attached to the battery by a non-rem
27、ovable means. Fasteners or adhesives shall not be used to attach the flanges to the battery container. If vertical triangular gussets (perpendicular to the horizontal and vertical members of the flange) are used to strengthen the front flange, they shall be not less than 0.50 inch from the edge of t
28、he slots in the flange. If the batterys weight is to be minimized by inserting holes in the flanges, the holes may be inserted in either flange but shall be in the vertical member only. The container and flange shall be constructed of materials that are identical. Flanges shall be free of any coatin

Not applicable to M8
30、1757/15-1 and M81757/15-2. For M81757/15-3, delete the title and text and substitute: “Carrying strap. The battery case shall have two flexible carrying straps located as shown on figure 3 of this specification sheet. The straps shall be a dark color. The straps shall have a mechanism by which they
31、can be connected to each other at two separate locations equidistant from the batterys vertical centerline. When the straps are extended for carrying the battery, the two connecting points shall be between 3 to 5 inches to the batterys vertical centerline. Fasteners or adhesive methods shall not be
32、used to attach the straps mounting supports to the battery. When attached to the battery, the straps mounting supports shall not exceed the latch-to-latch width of the battery. Straps shall be free of any coating and shall meet the requirements of 3.9, 3.10.3, both of MIL-PRF-81757, 3.10.10, and 3.1
33、0.25, both as modified herein.“ 3.7.8 Receptacles. Add the following after the last sentence: “The battery shall contain one main power receptacle; the M81757/15-3 shall also contain a sensor receptacle. For all M81757/15-X, the J1 main power receptacle shall be as shown on figure 20 of this specifi
34、cation sheet. The J1 main power receptacle shall be vertically positioned so that the top of the terminal block and the cell terminal contact surfaces are in the same plane. For M81757/15-3, the J2 sensor receptacle shall conform to D38999/20KC98SN.“ 3.7.11.5 Cell baffle. Delete the first sentence a
35、nd insert: “The cell baffle shall contain an electrolyte level marker as the reference for electrolyte adjustment (see 3.10.12 of MIL-PRF-81757). This shall apply for any vent cap style used.“ 3.7.11.6 Vented filler cap. Following the first sentence, insert: “The vented filler cap to be installed on
36、 each cell of the battery shall be as shown on figure 20 of this specification sheet.“ 6.4 Add the following paragraph: “3.7.15 Harness assembly (PIN M81757/15-3 only). Each battery shall include a harness assembly PIN M81757/15-4 that shall be configured as shown on figure 10 of this specification
37、sheet. The schematic and pin assignments shall conform to figure 11 of this specification sheet. The harness assembly shall be replaceable. Wire-wound resistors shall not be used. All electrical connections made to the receptacle and harness devices shall be potted with a compound that will not supp
38、ort flame, absorb moisture, flow, crack, or shrink during any of the tests of 4.5 of MIL-PRF-81757. The harness assembly and potting compound shall meet the requirements of 3.10.3 of MIL-PRF-81757. The harness assembly shall use two temperature sensor devices (thermistors) with a resistance output c
39、onforming to figure 12 of this specification sheet. The devices shall have a tolerance of 0.2 C over the range 0 C to 70 C. The manufacturer shall provide three samples of the M81757/15-2 harness assembly in addition to the samples of 4.2.2 of MIL-PRF-81757.“ Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduc

External and internal metal parts of each battery, cell, and component shall not show cracking, pitting, chipping, scaling, corrosion, or other deleterious effects during or after t
41、he testing specified in 4.5.36 of MIL-PRF-81757/15. The battery shall also meet the requirements of 3.9 of MIL-PRF-81757. 6.5 Modify the following paragraphs: 3.8.1 Color. Delete the third sentence and substitute: “The battery container shall be the natural color of the container material (see 6.10.
42、7 of MIL-PRF-81757) except as follows. The container cover shall be a blue color as specified above. The coloring of the battery identification (see 3.8.4, as modified herein) shall be either: “a. White print on blue label backgrounds colored the same blue specified above, or “b. Blue lettering appl
43、ied directly to the container material without the use of a colored background.“ 3.8.3.1 Batteries. In the first sentence, change “marked on“ to “marked, impressed, or embossed on“. 3.8.4 Battery identification. Delete the third sentence and substitute: “The marking shall be either in white print on
44、 a blue background (see 3.8.1, as modified herein) or in light blue or medium blue print on the natural color of the container material. The blue color shall provide sufficient contrast against the natural color of the container for easy visibility under natural light.“ 3.8.4.1 Limited-repair batter
45、ies. In the first sentence, change “figure 1“ to “figure 13 of this specification sheet“. 3.8.4.2 Repairable batteries. In the first sentence, change “figure 2“ to “figure 14 of this specification sheet“. 3.8.4.3 Battery caution and receptacle marking. In the second and third sentences, change “figu
46、re 3“ to “figure 14 of this specification sheet“. Insert the following after the third sentence: “The assigned CAGE code shall be inserted at the indicated area.“ 3.10.8 Dimensions and weights. Delete the entire text and substitute: “The dimensions and configuration of the battery container and cont
47、ainer cover shall be as shown on figures 1 through 7 of this specification sheet. The weight of the battery shall be not greater than that shown on figure 20 of this specification sheet with the electrolyte level adjusted in accordance with 4.4.4 of MIL-PRF-81757. The base dimensions of the containe
48、r shall be within specified tolerance for a distance of not less than 1.8 inches up from the bottom of the container.
