3、t establishes requirements for color coded aircraft tire identification tape which applies to all aircraft tires manufactured/retreaded for the Department of Defense. REQUIREMENTS: 1. All aircraft tires manufactured/retreaded for the Department of Defense shall be taped before delivery, with a circu
4、mferential band of one (1) inch, pressure-sensitive tape, completely around the centermost rib of the tread. 2. The ends of the tape shall overlap approximately four (4) inches for any splice and upon completion of the wrap. 3. The pressure-sensitive tape shall be constructed so that normal shipping
5、 and handling will not deface or remove it from the tire, but shall be easily removed in one continuous strip prior to installation. 4. The tape shall be a solid color to indicate the year of manufacture for both new and retread tires. The date of retreading shall not be used on the tape. 6. The year of
9、manufacture shall be printed on the tape. The numbers shall be printed in the center of the tape, in a neat legible manner and shall be repeated continuously for total length of the tape per given roll with three (3) inches spacing between printed dates. Year date numbers shall be three-quarters (3/
10、4) inch in height, one-eighth (1/8) inch in width and black or white in color. Spacing between the numbers shall be no less than one-eighth or more than one-quarter (1/4) high. The printing shall be indelible and resistant to any abrasion resulting from handling operations. 7. New tire identificatio
11、n tape: In addition to the solid color and printed date to indicate year of manufacture, the tape for new tires shall have one-half (1/2) inch wide horizontal stripe across the width of the tape in a color corresponding to the manufacturers identification color in table II. The horizontal stripe sha
12、ll be repeated every six (6) inches to indicate manufacturer of the tire. An optional three-sixteenth (3/16) inch white border is permitted around the stripe as shown on figure 1. 8. Retread tire identification tape: In addition to the solid color and printed date to indicate year of manufacture, th
13、e tape for retread tires shall have a diamond design printed on it in a color corresponding to the retreaders identification color outlined in table II. The diamond shall be no less than one and one-quarter (1-1/4) inches and no more than one and one-half (1-1/2) inches in length and approximately f
14、ifteen-sixteenths (15/16) of an inch in width and shall be repeated every six and one-half (6-1/2) inches to indicate the retreader as shown on figure 1.
