、 17th Street Suite 1847, Rosslyn, VA 22209 ivFOREWORD (This Foreword is not part of ANSI C78.1413-2001) Suggestions for improvement of this standard will be welcome. They should be sent to the Secretariat, C78 Committee, National Electrical Manufacturers Association, 1300 North 17th Street, Suite 18

、47, Rosslyn, VA 22209. This standard was processed and approved for submittal to ANSI by Accredited Standards Committee on Electric lamps, C78, and its subcommittee, C78-1. Since lamp position is controlled at the reflector rim, centering device dimensions of lamp holding systems are also specified in this standard. Both the rim reference lamps and centering devices specified in this

、, VA 22209 23 Related Components 3.1 Identification Projection lamps conforming to this standard should be identified with a 3-letter designation in conformance with ANSI C78.370. 3.2 Bases Finished lamps shall employ GX5.3, GY5.3, or GU5.3 bases conforming to the requirements of ANSI C81.61, and sh

、all conform to the base gauges of ANSI C81.63. GX5.3 bases are used for low voltage lamp types, less than 50V. GY5.3 bases are used for high voltage lamp types, 50V or greater. GU5.3 bases are also used for low voltage lamp types but also include slots or ridges on the reflector neck for use in lamp

、holders with retainer springs. 3.3 Holding Systems The holding systems shall employ the centering devices specified in Section 5. 4 Lamp Dimensions Lamp dimensions are specified in Figure 1 with only those dimensions required for interchangeability given. The drawn shape of the reflector and neck ar

、ea are not intended to specify or restrict the outer surface of the lamp, beyond the restrictions imposed by the standard for the base. Lamps shall have full 360O circular rim reference surfaces. Application and performance information on specific 51mm (two-inch) integral reflector rim reference lam

、p types are given in C78.1420, C78.1431, and C78.1433. 37、in Figure 2. 5.1 Precise Centering System The most precise lamp centering system is the recessed device shown in Figure 2(a). Full 360 circular recesses are not necessary; two or three segments will suffice. The centering system shown in Figure 2(a) requires that the lamp be axially loaded such that

、 surface x of the lamp mates to surface x of the centering device. Lateral location is restricted by surface y. 5.2 Alternative Centering System The alternative centering system shown in Figure 2(b) permits slightly greater displacement of the lamp axis as a result of the tolerance of the flashline

、diameter. The centering system shown in Figure 2(b) requires both an axial load component and a lateral load component such that surface x of the lamp mates to surface x of the centering device, and such that the major diameter A of the lamp mates to the studs defined by dimensions A1, A2, A3, and V
