2、dards, the National Fire Protection Association has issued the following Tentative Interim Amendment to NFPA 1931, Standard for Manufacturers Design of Fire Department Ground Ladders, 2015 edition. The TIA was processed by the Technical Committee on Fire Department Ground Ladders, and was issued by
3、the Standards Council on August 15, 2017, with an effective date of September 4, 2017. A Tentative Interim Amendment is tentative because it has not been processed through the entire standards-making procedures. It is interim because it is effective only between editions of the standard. A TIA autom
4、atically becomes a public input of the proponent for the next edition of the standard; as such, it then is subject to all of the procedures of the standards-making process. 1. Add new definition 3.3.26 and associated annex material A.3.3.26 to read as follows: 3.3.26* Multi-Purpose Ladder. A ground
5、ladder capable of being used as either a step ladder or a straight ladder and comprising two telescoping adjustable-length-section assemblies connected via a hinge assembly. A.3.3.26 Multi-Purpose Ladder. Multi-purpose ladders are typically manufactured in accordance with commercial standards. Becau
6、se these ladders have a typical duty rating of only 136 kg to 170 kg (300 lb to 375 lb), which is far less than that of a ladder manufactured in accordance with NFPA 1931, it is highly recommended that multi-purpose ladders be loaded with only a single person and not used for the rescue of victims w
7、here both the victim and the fire fighter are required to be on the ladder simultaneously. 2. Revise 4.1.3.5.1 to read as follows: 4.1.3.5.1 Folding, multi-purpose, and pompier ladder rungs shall be excluded from this requirement. 3. Add a new section 4.8 and renumber subsequent paragraphs to read a
8、s follows: 4.8 Additional Requirement for Multi-Purpose Ladders Only. The design requirement of this section shall apply in addition to the design requirements of Section 4.1. 4.8.1 ANSI Certification. Multi-purpose ladders shall be certified as complaint with either ANSI A14.2, Ladders Portable Met
9、al Safety Requirements, or ANSI A14.5, Ladders Portable Reinforced Plastic Safety Requirements, with duty ratings of Type 1A or 1AA. 4.89 Manufacturer Certification. 4. 89.1 Ground ladders . . . ladder manufacturer. 4. 89.2 A label stating . . .affixed to the ladder.
