Place a specimen of the rubber, 0.080x 1 x 1/2 inch (2.03 x 25 x 12.7 mm), in a wooden specimen holder 5/16x1x 1/2 inch (7.9
39、 x 25 x 12.7 mm) with two grooves each 3/16 inch (4.8 mm) deep x 3/32 inch (2.4 mm) wide x 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) long, spaced 1/4 inch (6.4mm) between sides of grooves, so that the specimen forms a half loop. Place specimens in holders in the flask so that the holders float on the mercury near side of
40、flask. Stopper the flask with a rubber stopper through which is inserted an electrode extending to within 1 inch (25 mm) of the surface of the mercury. Place the flask on a metal plate and connect the plate and the electrode to a source of 15,000 V, 60 Hz alternating current. Pass this current throu

Examine specimens for cracking after 30 minutes.4.5.2 Flame Resistance: Shall be determined in accordance with ASTMD635, except that the specimen shall be clamped in a vertical position and the flame shall be applied at the lower end of the specimen for 30 seconds1 and then withdrawn.
42、The duration of flaming and glowing in the specimen, after withdrawal of the burner, shall be recorded.4.6 Reports: The vendor of the product shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the results of tests to determine conformance to the acceptance test requirements and stating that the produ
