SCOPE1.1 F

6、ormThis specification covers a silver alloy in the form of wire, rod, sheet, strip, foil, pig, powder, shot, and chips, and a viscousmixture (paste) of powder in a suitable binder.1.2 ApplicationPrimarily for joining ferrous metals, particularly austenitic steels and alloys, where high joint strengt

7、h up to 400 F (204 F) is required, and for joining nonferrous metals except those having a base of aluminum or magnesium.2. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS3.1 CompositionProducts shall meet the requirements of AWS A5.8 BAg-243.2 ConditionAs fabricated unless otherwise specified.3.2.1 PasteP

12、aste not containing flux (3.2.1.1) shall be supplied unless paste containing flux (3.2.1.2) is specified.3.2.1.1 Paste Not Containing FluxShall consist of 84 to 90% by weight powder in a suitable binder.3.2.1.2 Paste Containing FluxShall consist of 55 to 80% by weight powder in a suitable binder and

13、 flux combination.3.3 Properties3.3.1 Paste 3.3.1.1 Paste shall have a shelf life of not less than six months from date of manufacture; not more than thorough mixing shall be required to restore paste for use during that time.3.3.1.2 Paste without flux shall leave no adherent residue when heated in

14、a protective atmosphere to 1000 F (538 C) or higher.3.4 QualityThe product, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in color, quality, and condition and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to its working qualities. Wire, rod, sheet, strip, and foil shall be clean, sound

15、, bright, and free from slivers, splitting, ragged edges, damaged ends, and other injurious imperfections. 22、UALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS4.1 Responsibility for InspectionThe vendor of the product shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for performing all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that

23、the product conforms to the requirements of this specification.4.2 Classification of Tests4.2.1 Acceptance TestsAll technical requirements, other than shelf life of paste (3.3.1.1), are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each lot.4.2.2 Periodic TestsShelf life of paste (3.3.1.1) is a periodi

24、c test and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the vendor unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser.4.3 Sampling and TestingShall be in accordance with the following:4.3.1 CompositionFor all product except powder, one sample from each lot; for powder, one sample from each furna

25、ce charge.SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4788B Page 5 of 64.3.2 Other Technical RequirementsAs agreed upon by purchaser and vendor.4.3.3 A lot shall be all product, other than powder or paste, which has been tested and found to conform to 3.1, in the same temper and size, and presented for vendors inspection

26、at one time.4.3.4 A lot of powder shall be a uniform blend of powder produced from one or more furnace charges, each meeting the requirements of 3.1, and presented for vendors inspection at one time.4.3.5 A lot of paste shall be that paste produced from a single lot of powder combined with binder fr

27、om the same manufacturing batch and presented for vendors inspection at one time.4.4 ReportsThe vendor of the product shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the results of tests to determine conformance to the composition requirements and stating that the product conforms to the other tec

28、hnical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, lot number or numbers, AMS4788B, form, size, and quantity.4.5 Resampling and RetestingNot applicable.5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY5.1 Identification5.1.1 The product shall be identified as agreed upon by purchaser and vendor.5.1

29、.2 Each exterior container or package shall be permanently and legibly marked with not less than the following information:SILVER ALLOY BRAZING FILLER METALAMS4788BLOT NUMBER MANUFACTURERS IDENTIFICATION NOMINAL DIMENSIONS WEIGHT 5.1.2.1 Each container and package of paste shall also be marked with

30、the date of manufacture.5.2 Packaging5.2.1 The product shall be suitably wrapped, sealed, and boxed or otherwise packaged for protection against injury and contamination during shipment and under normal dry storage conditions.5.2.2 Packages of filler metal shall be prepared for shipment in accordanc

31、e with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging and transportation of the filler metal to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery.6. ACKNOWLEDGMENTA vendor shall mention this specification number and its revision letter in

32、all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders.7.
