2、(996 to 1038 C) Solution, Stabilization, and Precipitation Heat Treated (Composition similar to UNS N07001) RATIONALE AMS5704K revises Properties (3.5.1.1.1), and Reports (4.4), and is a Five Year Review and update of this specification. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers a corrosion and he

3、at-resistant nickel alloy in the form of forgings 3.25 inches (82.6 mm) and under, and forging stock of any size. (See 8.5). 1.2 Application These forgings have been used typically for rotating parts, such as compressor blades, discs, hubs, shafts, and spacers, requiring high strength up to 1500 F (

4、816 C) and oxidation resistance up to 1750 F (954 C), but usage is not limited to such applications. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS The issue of the following documents in effect on the date of the purchase order forms a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. The supplier may work to a

5、subsequent revision of a document unless a specific document issue is specified. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Composition Shall conform to the

14、 percentages by weight shown in Table 1, determined by wet chemical methods in accordance with ASTM E 354, by spectrochemical methods, by the methods of ARP1313 for lead, bismuth, and selenium, or by other analytical methods acceptable to purchaser. 17、l be multiple vacuum melted. If consumable electrode remelting is not performed in vacuum, electrodes which have been produced by vacuum induction melting shall be used for remelting. 3.3 Condition The product shall be supplied in the following condition: 3.3.1 Forgings Solution, stabilization, and

18、precipitation heat treated. 3.3.2 Forging Stock As ordered by the forging manufacturer. 3.4 Heat Treatment Forgings shall be solution, stabilization, and precipitation heat treated as follows; pyrometry shall be in accordance with AMS2750: 3.4.1 Solution Heat Treatment Heat to a temperature within t

19、he range 1825 to 1900 F (996 to 1038 C), hold at the selected temperature within 25 F (14 C) for 4 hours 0.25, and quench in oil or water. 3.4.2 Stabilization Heat Treatment Heat to 1550 F 15 (843 C 8), hold at heat for 4 hours 0.5, and cool in air. 3.4.3 Precipitation Heat Treatment Heat to 1400 F

20、15 (760 C 8), hold at heat for 16 hours 1, and cool in air. 3.5 Properties The product shall conform to the following requirements: 3.5.1 Forgings 3.5.1.1 Tensile Properties Specimens from forgings 3.25 inches (82.6 mm) and under in least nominal cross-sectional dimension shall have the following pr

21、operties: 3.5.1.1.1 Mechanical property requirements for product outside of the range covered by 1.1 shall be agreed upon between purchaser and producer. 3.5.1.1.2 At Room Temperature Shall be as shown in Table 2, determined in accordance with ASTM E 8/E 8M. 23、000 F 10 (538 C 5), held at heat for 20 to 30 minutes before testing, and tested at 1000 F 10 (538 C 5). 24、tensile specimens are machined from the center area of disc and hub forgings and this area lies within a 4-inch (102-mm) radius or 25% of the forging radius, whichever is the smaller dimension, elongation may be as low as 10% and reduction of area as low as 12%. 3.5.1.2 Hardness Shall be 341 to 401

25、HB, or equivalent (See 8.2), determined in accordance with ASTM E 10. Forgings shall not be rejected on the basis of hardness if the tensile property requirements of 3.5.1.1.2, determined on material taken from the same sample as that with nonconforming hardness or from another sample with similar n

26、onconforming hardness, are acceptable. 3.5.1.3 Stress-Rupture Properties Shall be as follows; testing of notched specimens and of combination smooth-and-notched specimens shall be performed in accordance with ASTM E 292 and of smooth specimens in accordance with ASTM E 139. 3.5.1.3.1 At 1350 F (732

27、C) A standard cylindrical combination smooth-and-notched specimen conforming to ASTM E 292, maintained at 1350 F 3 (732 C 2) while a load sufficient to produce an initial axial stress of 80.0 ksi (552 MPa) or higher is applied continuously, shall not rupture in less than 23 hours. The test shall be

28、continued to rupture without change of load. Rupture shall occur in the smooth section. Elongation of the smooth section after rupture, measured at room temperature, shall be not less than 5% in 4D. 3.5.1.3.1.1 As an alternate procedure, separate smooth and notched specimens, machined from adjacent

29、sections of the same piece, with gage sections conforming to the respective dimensions shown in ASTM E 292, may be tested individually under the conditions of 3.5.1.3.1. The smooth specimen shall not rupture in less than 23 hours and elongation after rupture, measured at room temperature, shall be a

30、s specified in 3.5.1.3.1. The notched specimen shall not rupture in less time than the smooth specimen. 3.5.1.3.1.2 The tests of 3.5.1.3.1 and 3.5.1.3.1.1 may be conducted using incremental loading. In such case, the load required to produce an initial axial stress of 80.0 ksi (552 MPa) or higher sh

31、all be used to rupture or for 23 hours, whichever occurs first. After the 23 hours and at intervals of 8 hours minimum, thereafter, the stress shall be increased in increments of 5.0 ksi (34.5 MPa). Time to rupture, rupture location, and elongation requirements shall be as specified in 3.5.1.3.1. SA

32、E INTERNATIONAL AMS5704K Page 5 of 7 3.5.1.3.2 At 1500 F (815 C) A tensile specimen, maintained at 1500 F 3 (816 C 2) while a load sufficient to produce an initial axial stress of 42.5 ksi (293 MPa) or higher is applied continuously, shall not rupture in less than 23 hours. The test shall be continu

33、ed to rupture without change of load. Elongation after rupture, measured at room temperature, shall be not less than 5% in 4D. 3.5.1.3.2.1 The test of 3.5.1.3.2 may be conducted using incremental loading. In such case, the load required to produce an initial axial stress of 42.5 ksi (293 MPa) or hig

34、her shall be used to rupture or for 23 hours, whichever occurs first. After the 23 hours and at intervals of 8 hours minimum, thereafter, the stress shall be increased in increments of 5.0 ksi (34.5 MPa). Time to rupture and elongation requirements shall be as specified in 3.5.1.3.2. 3.5.1.4 Average

35、 Grain Size Shall be substantially uniform without pronounced segregation of fine and coarse grain areas conforming to standards agreed upon by purchaser and vendor. Clusters of large germinated grains are not acceptable. 3.5.2 Forging Stock When a sample of stock is forged to a test coupon having a

36、 degree of mechanical working not greater than the forging and heat treated as in 3.4, specimens taken from the heat treated coupon shall conform to the requirements of 3.5.1.1, 3.5.1.2, 3.5.1.3, and 3.5.1.4. If specimens taken from stock after heat treatment as in 3.4 conform to the requirements of

37、 3.5.1.1, 3.5.1.2, 3.5.1.3, and 3.5.1.4, the tests shall be accepted as equivalent to tests of a forged coupon. 3.6 Quality The product, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to usage of the prod

38、uct. 3.6.1 Grain flow of die forgings, except in areas which contain flash-line end grain, shall follow the general contour of the forgings showing no evidence of reentrant grain flow. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The vendor of the product shall supply all sample

39、s for vendors tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the product conforms to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests Th

40、e following requirements are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each heat or lot as applicable: 4.2.1.1 Composition (3.1) of each heat. 4.2.1.2 Tensile properties (3.5.1.1), hardness (3.5.1.2), stress-rupture properties at 1350 F (732 C) (3.5.1.3.1), and average grain size (3.5.1.4) of each

41、lot of forgings. 4.2.2 Periodic Tests The following requirements are periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the vendor unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser: 4.2.2.1 Stress-rupture properties at 1500 F (816 C) (3.5.1.3.2) of forgings. 4.2.2.2 Ability of forg

42、ing stock to develop required properties (3.5.2). SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS5704K Page 6 of 7 4.2.2.3 Grain flow of die forgings (3.6.1). 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be as follows: 4.3.1 Forging Stock In accordance with AMS2371. 4.3.2 Forgings In accordance with AMS2374. 4.4 Reports 4.4.1 The vendor o

43、f forgings shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the vendors name and country where the metal was melted (e.g., final melt in the case of metal processed by multiple melting) and the results of tests for composition of each heat and the results of tests on each lot for tensile properties

44、, hardness, stress-rupture properties at 1350 F (732 C), and average grain size and stating that the product conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, heat and lot numbers, AMS5704K, quantity, specific solution heat treatment temperature used,

45、 part number, and the size and melt source of forging stock used to make the forgings. 4.4.2 When the product size is outside the range covered by 1.1, the report shall contain a statement to that effect. 4.4.3 The vendor of forging stock shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the vendors

46、 name and country where the metal was melted (e.g., final melt in the case of metal processed by multiple melting) and the results of tests for composition of each heat. This report shall include the purchase order number, heat number, AMS5704K, size, and quantity. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting Shall

47、 be as follows: 4.5.1 Forging Stock In accordance with AMS2371. 4.5.2 Forgings In accordance with AMS2374. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification Shall be as follows: 5.1.1 Forgings In accordance with AMS2808. 5.1.2 Forging Stock As agreed upon by purchaser and vendor. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS5

48、704K Page 7 of 7 5.2 Packaging The product shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the product to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. ACKNOWL

49、EDGMENT A vendor shall mention this specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Product not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection. 8.
