The microhardness method shall be conducted on a hardened but untempered specimen protected during heat treatment to preven
、t changes in surface carbon content. Depth of decarburization, when measured by the microhardness method, is defined as the perpendicular distance from the surface to the depth under that surface where there is no further increase in hardness. Such measurements shall be far enough away from any adja
、cent surface to be uninfluenced by decarburization on the adjacent surface. In case of dispute, the depth of decarburization determined using the microhardness traverse method shall govern. 3.3.3.4.1 When determining the depth of decarburization, it is permissible to disregard local areas provided t
、he decarburization of such areas does not exceed the above limits by more than 0.005 inch (0.13 mm) and the width is 0.065 inch (1.65 mm) or less. 3.4 Quality Tubing, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition and shall have a finish conforming to the best practice for high
、quality aircraft tubing. It shall be smooth and free from heavy scale or oxide, burrs, seams, tears, grooves, laminations, slivers, pits, and other imperfections detrimental to usage of the tubing. Surface imperfections such as handling marks, straightening marks, light mandrel and die marks, shallo
、w pits, and scale pattern will not be considered injurious if the imperfections are removable within the tolerances specified for wall thickness, but removal of such imperfections is not required. 3.4.1 Steel shall be aircraft quality conforming to AMS2301. 3.4.2 When specified, the tubing, either w
、ith or without machining of the surface, shall be subjected to magnetic particle inspection in accordance with ASTM E 1444. Standards for acceptance shall be as agreed upon by purchaser and vendor. 3.5 Tolerances Shall conform to all applicable requirements of AMS2253. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISION
、S: 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The vendor of tubing shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the tubing conforms
、to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests All technical requirements are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each heat or lot as applicable. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS6360M Page 5 of 6 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with AMS2370. 4.4 Reports The producer of the tubing
、 shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the producer identity and country where the metal was melted (i.e., final melt in the case of metal processed by multiple melting operations) and the results of tests for composition and frequency-severity cleanliness rating of each heat, and for te
、nsile properties and average grain size of each lot, and stating that the product conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, heat and lot numbers, AMS6360M, size, and quantity. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting Shall be in accordance with AMS2370. 5
、. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Sizes Except when exact lengths or multiples of exact lengths are ordered, straight tubing will be acceptable in mill lengths of 6 to 20 feet (1.8 to 6.1 m) but not more than 10% of any shipment shall be supplied in lengths shorter than 10 feet (3 m). 5.2 Identificatio
、n Shall be in accordance with AMS2807. 5.3 Protective Treatment Tubing shall be proctected from corrosion prior to shipment. 5.4 Packaging Tubing shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling,
、packaging, and transportation of the tubing to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A vendor shall include this specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Tubing not conforming to this specification,
、or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection. 8.
