11、rms, i.e. liquid and paste, of solvent-based wax polish suitable for use on furniture and floors, other than those of thermoplastic (asphalt), semi-flexible vinyl (vinyl- asbestos), flexible vinyl, linoleum, and rubber. NOTE a) The titles of standards referred to by number in the specification are g
12、iven in appendix A. b) Requirements that must be specified by the purchaser are listed in appendix B. 2 Definitions 2.1 For the purposes of this specification the following definitions shall apply: acceptable acceptable to the authority administering this standard or to the parties concluding the pu
13、rchase contract, as relvant Amdt 2 batch the material from a single mix defective wax polish or its container or bulk package that fails in one or more respects to comply with the appropriate requirements of the specification lot that quantity of wax polish in containers that bears the same batch id
14、entification, from one manufacturer, submitted at any one time for inspection and testing 3 Requirements 3.1 General The polish shall consist essentially of a wax or a blend of waxes in volatile organic solvents. It shall not be harmful to, or discolour surfaces of the types to which it is intended
15、to be applied. It shall not be irritating to the normal skin and its vapours shall not be toxic to human beings under normal conditions of use. The odour of the polish shall be acceptable. SANS 13:2008 Edition 2.3 4 3.2 Form The wax polish shall be either a liquid or a paste, as specified by the pur
16、chaser, and shall comply with the following requirements: a) Liquid polish. Liquid polish shall be a free-flowing homogeneous liquid between 15 and 30 C and free from lumps or solid particles. b) Paste polish. Paste polish shall be a homogeneous smooth paste free from lumps and granulations. 3.3 Fre
17、edom from grit When approximately 0,1 g of the polish is rubbed between two glass slides, there shall be no evidence of grittiness. 3.4 Heat-cool stability When tested in accordance with 6.3, paste polish shall not show signs of separation, and there shall be not more than 5 mL separation of suspend
18、ed matter from 100 mL of liquid polish. 3.5 Penetration The penetration of paste polish, determined in accordance with 6.4, shall be 50 100 units (tenths of a millimetre) at 20 C and not more than 60 units (tenths of a millimetre) at 25 C. Amdt 1 3.6 Performance When tested in accordance with 6.5, t
19、he polish shall apply easily and shall dry to a thin non-tacky film within 15 min. On rubbing with a soft cloth, the film shall polish smoothly and the gloss of the panel shall not be reduced. 3.7 Non-volatile matter 3.7.1 Content The non-volatile matter content of the polish, determined in accordan
20、ce with 6.6, shall be as follows: a) Liquid polish. Not less than 11,0 % (m/m). b) Paste polish. Not less than 20,0 % (m/m). 3.7.2 Properties The non-volatile matter of the polish shall comply with the requirements given in table 1. 22、etermined in accordance with 6.10, shall not exceed 1,0 % (m/m). 3.10 Storage stability When stored at room temperature for 12 months in its original unopened container, the polish shall comply with all the other relevant requirements of the specification. 4 Packing and marking 4.1 Packing Unless co
23、ntainers of a plastics material1)are specified by the purchaser, the polish shall be packed in metal containers. It shall be so packed as to prevent leakage and deterioration of the product, and the containers shall be strong enough to withstand normal handling and transportation. Each container sha
24、ll contain only polish from the same batch. The containers may be packed in bulk packages, but only containers of the same size and bearing the same batch identification shall be packed together in a bulk package. 4.2 Marking 4.2.1 Containers Each container shall bear in prominent, legible, and inde
25、lible marking the information required in terms of the relevant national regulations and statutory requirements regarding metrology (see foreword), and the following additional information: Amdt 3 a) The name or trade name or trade mark of the manufacturer, or a combination of these; b) words to the
26、 effect that the polish is a solvent-based wax polish; c) the net volume of the contents; d) if larger than 1 L, the batch identification. 1) It is not recommended that the container be of polyethylene. SANS 13:2008 Edition 2.3 6 4.2.2 Bulk packages Each bulk package shall bear, in legible and indel
27、ible marking, the following information: a) The information required in terms of 4.2.1(a) and (b); b) the capacity and number of containers; c) the form of the polish; d) the batch identification. 5 Sampling and compliance with the specification NOTE This section applies to the sampling for inspecti
28、on and testing before acceptance or rejection of single lots (consignments) in cases where no information about the implementation of quality control or testing during manufacture is available to help in assessing the quality of the lot. It is also used as the procedure for adjudicating in cases of
29、dispute. 5.1 Sampling The following sampling procedure shall be applied in determining whether a lot complies with the appropriate requirements of the specification. The sample so drawn shall be deemed to represent the lot. After inspecting the lot for compliance with the appropriate requirements of
30、 section 4, take from it at random at least six containers and mark each container with the date of sampling and, when relevant, the batch number. 5.2 Compliance with the specification The lot shall be deemed to comply with the requirements of the specification if, after inspection of the lot and in
31、spection and testing of the sample taken in accordance with 5.1, no defective is found. 6 Inspection and methods of test 6.1 Inspection Inspect the containers in the sample taken in accordance with 5.1 for compliance with the appropriate requirements of section 4, and after conditioning (see 6.2), c
32、heck their contents for compliance with those requirements of the specification with which compliance is not assessed by the tests given in 6.3 6.10 (inclusive). 6.2 Conditioning of samples Condition all samples at room temperature for at least 7 d before testing. 6.3 Heat-cool stability Use SANS 59

34、one, and the penetration of the sample conditioned at 25,0 0,5 C, using the 90 cone. c) Report the penetration of the polish at 20 C and at 25 C.
