、0 1 .I Asynchronous Data Service (ADS) This telecommunication service allows digital wireless subscribers to send and receive asynchronous data. ADS provides functionality similar to a wireline modem in that the data is modified to malte it suitable for transporting over the appropriate medium. Both
、 wireless and wireline media are accommodated to support inteiworlung between the two networks in a way that is transparent to the terminal equipment. The subscribers terminal equipment inteifaces to a conventional DCE (Data Circuit-Teiminating Equipement) data port. The far-end DCE inteiworlts each
、 end function as if connected to a compatible device. ADS procedures and inteifaces are specified by appropriate air interface standards (e.g., TIA/EIA/IS-99 orTIA/EIA/IS-I 35 and TIA/EIA/S-I 30). These TIA standards specify compliance with other common TIA data standards (e.g., EIA/TIA-602) and ITU
、 recommendations (e.g., . V32 bis, V.42). Mobile originated service may be of two types: Data Only and Voice Then Data. Mobile terminated service may be of three types: One Number per Service, Two-Stage Dialing, or Voice Then Data. Applicability to Telecommunications Services ADS is applicable to da
、ta telecommunication services. ADS is applicable to voice services in those cases where a voice call is made prior to a user initiated voice to data service change. 1 .I .I Normal Procedures With Successful Outcome Authorization ADS may be provided after preail-angement with the service provider, or
、 may be made generally available by the service provider. De-Au t h 0 rizat 1 0 n If ADS is provided after preail-angement with the service provider, the sei-vice shall be deauthorized at the subscribers request or for administrative reasons. 32、on ADS has no deregistration. Stage 1 - 1 Asynchronous Data Service (ADS) TIA-737 Activation ADS shall be activated upon authorization and issuance of the proper AT command. De-Activation ADS shall be de-activated upon deauthorization or issuance of the proper AT command. Invocation ADS is invoked b
、y issuing the appropriate AT commands (e.g., ATD command). Mobile Origination Mobile originated service may be of two types: Data Only and Voice Then Data. - Data Only A mobile subscriber originates a data call to a terminating party (PSTN user or mobile subscriber). The terminating party may either
、 have a separate telephone number for data services, or (based on calling tones, alerting pattein, or some other means) utilize a single line to terminate both voice and data services. - Voice Then Data A mobile subscriber originates a voice call to a terminating party (PSTN user or mobile subscribe
、r). The terminating party has a single telephone number for both voice and data services. The call is answered as a voice call when the modem is made ready, the mobile subscriber initiates a voice to data service change. In another case, the originating mobile subscriber infoi-ms the terminating par
、ty that the inprogress voice call shall be ended, then call back with a data call. The originating mobile subscriber then initiates a data call. Mobile Termination Mobile terminated service may be one of three types: One Number per Service, Two- Stage Dialing, or Voice Then Data. - One Number per Se
、rvice An originating party places a data call to the terminating mobile subscriber. The mobile station has a separate telephone number for data calls. - Two-Stage Dialing The wireless carrier has one or more Directory Numbers (DN) for ADS service. Since the number is related to the service, it is sh
、ared by all subscribers. An originating party places a call to one of the ADS DNs. The number selected corresponds to the requested data service. When the data service retuns dial tone, the originating partys modem dials the terminating mobile subscribers DN. The call is presented as a data call. 1
