4、nts of this end-product standard,and shall be of a type suitable for the particular application; see Clause 4.8A. They shall be capable ofcarrying the normal load (see Clause 5.2) without exceeding the permissible temperatures when theappliance is tested in accordance with the temperature test, Clau

5、se 5.8.Exception: A motor provided with integral insulation (e.g. epoxy coating) in lieu of slot liners shall alsocomply with the Standard for Systems of Insulating Materials - General, UL 1446, and the integralinsulation requirements specified in Clause 5.29.4.8A Motors4.8A.1 Motors having a NEMA f

6、rame size shall comply with the Standard for Motors and Generators,C22.2 No. 100 and the Standard for Rotating Electrical Machines - General Requirements, UL 1004-1.This includes fractional HP motors rated up to 1 HP (typically NEMA frame sizes 42, 48, or 56), andintegral HP motors rated 1 HP and gr

18、r, or rotor having integral insulation (e.g., epoxy coating) inlieu of slot liners, for use in machines rated 250 V and less, shall be subjected to the tests described inClauses 5.29.2 through 5.29.7.5.29.2 The components shall be subjected to a dielectric strength test of 1000 V for 1 min withoutbr

19、eakdown, except that where the wound component is for use in machines rated above 250 V, thecomponents shall be subjected to a dielectric strength test of 1000 V plus twice the rated voltage for 1min without breakdown.5.29.3 The samples shall be subjected to one of the following conditioning cycles,

20、 and then followed bya conditioning of 24 h at 30C (86F) at a relative humidity shall be 80 to 90%. A temperature toleranceof 2C (3F) shall be permitted.a) 24 h at 175C (347F) for Class A;b) 24 h at 200C (392F) for Class B; orc) 24 h at 220C (428F) for Class F insulation.5.29.4 The conditioning cycl

21、e described in Clause 5.29.3 shall be repeated once, and then the samplesshall be immersed in a hard water solution of 0.5 g of calcium sulphate (CaSO4) per liter of distilled waterfor 24 h at a temperature of 25 2C (77 3F).5.29.5 The samples shall be air dried in an essentially draft-free area for

22、not less than7hat205C witha max RH of 50%.5.29.6 The insulation resistance of the samples shall be measured using 500 Vdc at room temperature.The insulation resistance shall be not less than 500 k.5.29.7 The dielectric strength test described in Clause 5.29.2 shall be repeated, and all samples shall

23、pass without breakdown.RATIONALE FOR DECISION:This Certification Requirement Decision documents the requirements for motors used in UL 1017appliances. In the past, motors have either complied with the motor standard UL 1004-1 or complied withthe applicable requirements in UL 1017. The Integral Insul

24、ation requirements are derived from C22.2 No.100-04 (R2009).
