12、and theachievement of a specified pressure.5.3 TRANSIT TIME Time between water entering the system and first water arrival at an opensprinkler.5.4 TRIP TIME Time between first sprinkler activation and the operation of the dry pipe valve.5.5 WATER DELIVERY TIME The total of the trip and transit times
13、.PERFORMANCE6 Verification of Water Delivery Time Calculation Method6.1 A software program intended to calculate the water delivery time for dry sprinkler systems shallaccurately predict the trip time, transit time, time to operating pressure and water delivery time wheninvestigated as described in
14、6.2 6.6. The accuracy of the calculation method shall be as follows:a) Trip Time The area under the predicted pressure decay curve shall be within 10 percentof the measured pressure decay curve and the average difference between the predicted andmeasured pressures shall not exceed 10 percent for eac
15、h experimental test referenced in 6.3.In addition, the average absolute deviation values for all of the tests referenced in 6.3 for thearea under the predicted decay curve as compared to the measured pressure decay curve shallnot exceed 5 percent.b) Transit Time The predicted transit times shall be
16、within 15 percent of the measuredtransit time for each experimental test referenced in 6.4.c) Time to Operating Pressure The area under the predicted pressure-time curve shall bewithin 5 percent of the pressure-time curve and the average difference between the predictedand measured pressures shall n
17、ot exceed 10 percent for each experimental test referenced in6.5.d) Water Delivery Time The predicted water delivery time with the application of a 10percent factor is required to be longer than the measured water delivery time for eachexperimental test referenced in 6.6.OCTOBER 12, 2005 SUBJECT 243

The accuracy of the software program intended to calculate the water delivery time
19、for drysprinkler systems shall be investigated for accuracy by comparing the predicted results to applicableexperimental data contained in the UL Subject 2432 file entitled Data for Dry pipe CalculationVerification. The experimental tests used for each parameter are described in 6.3 6.6.6.3 The trip
20、 time accuracy is to be evaluated by comparing the predicted decay pressure considering thearea under the curve and the average error on a point-by-point basis to the results of the experimentaltests referenced in Table 6.1. For a point-by-point comparison, predicted system pressure is to becompared
21、 to the measured system pressure for each experimental test at least 10 different times,approximately equally spaced throughout the time range. The predicted pressure values are to be linearlyinterpolated if the time intervals are not identical between the trip time predictions and experimental test

31、10702321 as referenced in Table 6.2. The pressure is to beevaluated between the first arrival of water to the sprinkler and the achievement of a specified pressure.For a point-by-point comparison, predicted operating pressure is to be compared to the measuredoperating pressure for the experimental t
32、est at least 10 different times, approximately equally spacedthroughout the time range. The predicted pressure values are to be linearly interpolated if the timeintervals are not identical between the trip time predictions and experimental tests.6.6 The water delivery time accuracy is to be evaluate
33、d by comparing the predicted time interval betweenfirst sprinkler activation and the first water arrival at an open sprinkler with the application of a 10 percentfactor to the results of the experimental tests referenced in Table 6.2.7 Input and Output Information7.1 The program input shall include
34、the necessary information to perform the water delivery timecalculations. The information to be inputted shall include system details such as the following:a) Piping system details such as material type, roughness, size, internal diameter, fittings,lengths, equivalent lengths, and elevations;b) Spri
35、nkler details such as k-factor and orifice size;c) Dry pipe valve details such as trip ratio and performance characteristics of an accelerator, ifused;d) System water supply characteristics; ande) Other characteristics such as fluid type, fluid density, fluid viscosity, fluid temperature, gastype, g
36、as pressure, gas temperature, static pressure, residual pressure and available waterflow.7.2 The program output shall include details regarding input data and calculation results. The output shallinclude at least the following information:a) Fluid type and temperature;b) System gas type, pressure an
37、d temperature;c) Dry pipe valve details such as trip ratio and performance characteristics of an accelerator, ifused;d) System water supply characteristics;e) Static water supply pressure;f) Residual water supply pressure;g) Available water flow;h) Calculated system volume;OCTOBER 12, 2005SUBJECT 24

39、) such as K-factor, orifice diameter and operating pressure.7.3 The program output shall include appropriate statements relative to confirmation of the input data anduse of the system. The output shall include at least the following statements or similar text:a) The sprinkler system must be installe
40、d in accordance with NFPA 13, Standard for theInstallation of Sprinkler Systems.b) The data inputted into the program shall correspond to the actual installation.c) The actual water supply curve shall correlate to the values assumed to be available at thedry pipe valve outlet.d) The calculations sha
41、ll be performed for sprinklers yielding the longest water delivery time.e) The factor applied to or calculated from the water delivery time prediction shall not be lessthan 10 percent.f) The inspectors test is to be conducted to determine the initial water delivery time forcomparison to future testi
42、ng as required in NFPA 25, Standard for the Inspection, Testing, andMaintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems. If the measured water delivery time isexcessive, there may be a problem with the installation or calculation inputs and system shouldbe reviewed.g) The water delivery time calculat
43、ion program shall not be used to hydraulically calculatesprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of SprinklerSystems.h) Exhausters shall not be used in the calculation of water delivery time.i) Other information as applicable to the specific program.OCTOBER 12, 200

In addition,
45、 the users manual shall reference thelimitations determined by the calculation method including at least the following items:a) A description of the general principles utilized in the calculation method and the types of drypipe systems intended to be calculated such as non-looped, tree type systems.
46、b) Minimum and maximum gas pressure and temperature;c) Minimum and maximum pipeline flow rates;d) Minimum and maximum dry pipe valve trip ratio and accelerator differential pressures;e) Minimum and maximum fluid density and viscosity;f) Minimum and maximum sprinkler K-factor, orifice diameter and op
47、erating pressure;g) Minimum and maximum pipe size and roughness;h) Minimum and maximum water supply static and residual pressures;i) The statements or similar text described in 7.3;j) The name of the manufacturer or private labeler or equivalent designation; andk) Date and manual designation number on each page.MARKING9 General9.1 A water delivery time calculation program distribution media shall be marked with the following:a) Manufacturers or private labelers name or identifying symbol; andb) Date and version of the program.OCTOBER 12, 2005SUBJECT 243210
