、.69a-2017, IEEE Standard for the Surge Parameters of Isolating Transformers used in Networking Devices and EquipmentAmendment 1. Ferrite cored broadband signal transformers tend to saturate when a differential surge occurs across the primary winding. Core saturation causes the loss of primary windin
、g to secondary winding coupling, shortening the transformed surge duration in the secondary winding circuit. The main surge stress occurs after the transformer core saturates and the key secondary winding parameters controlling this surge stress level are the secondary winding resistance and saturat

This amendment adds a new sub- clause, 4.5 Saturated core secondary winding parameters, to IEEE C62.69-2016, which defines techniques for the determination of the secondary winding resistance and saturated core inductance. 8 Copyright 2017 IEEE. 43、eters NOTEThe editing instructions contained in this amendment define how to merge the material contained therein into the existing base standard and its amendments to form the comprehensive standard. The editing instructions are shown in bold italic. Four editing instructions are used: change, dele
、te, insert, and replace. Change is used to make corrections in existing text or tables. The editing instruction specifies the location of the change and describes what is being changed by using strikethrough (to remove old material) and underscore (to add new material). Delete removes existing mater
、ial. Insert adds new material without disturbing the existing material. Insertions may require renumbering. If so, renumbering instructions are given in the editing instruction. Replace is used to make changes in figures or equations by removing the existing figure or equation and replacing it with
、a new one. Editing instructions, change markings, and this NOTE will not be carried over into future editions because the changes will be incorporated into the base standard. 4. Characteristics Insert new 4.5 immediately after 4.4 as follows: 4.5 Saturated core secondary winding parameters 4.5.1 General Under differential surge conditions, a saturating core signal transformer has a secondary winding surge let- through current that is typically triangular and can be described by three surge waveform parameters of front, peak, and decay as listed below:
