When specified,a copy of the certification or test results, or both, shall befurnished to the purchaser.6. Materials6.1 GeneralSteam jacketed kettles shall conform to thefollowing requirements:6
36、.2 KettleThe kettle shall be constructed of type 304,304L, 316, or 316L corrosion-resistant steel conforming toSpecification A167 or A240/A240M.6.3 Steam JacketThe jacket shall be constructed of type304, 304L, 316, or 316L corrosion-resistant steel.6.3.1 Class B and Class C Steam JacketsJackets shal

Design and Construction7.1 GeneralThe kettle shall be delivered assembled andready for connection to steam, water, electricity, or gas piping,as applicable. The kettles are to be equipped with a suitabledrain and e
40、xhaust steam termination, if applicable. The heightfrom the floor to the top rim of the kettle shall not exceed thefollowing: 44 in. (1219 mm) for 20 to 40-gal (75.7 to 151.4-L)kettles and 51 in. (1295 mm) for 60 to 100-gal (227.2 to378.5-L) kettles. If applicable, the clearance from the floor tothe
41、 outlet of the draw-off valve shall be a minimum of 12 in.(304.8 mm).7.1.1 Jacketed Steam ChamberThe steam containing partof the kettle shall be rated for the following allowable workingpressures (WP):7.1.1.1 Direct Connected Kettlesminimum 15 psi (103.4Kpa), and7.1.1.2 Self-Generating Kettlesminimu
42、m 15 psi (103.4Kpa).7.1.2 The design and construction of the kettle jacket shallbe in accordance with the ASME Boiler and Pressure VesselCode, Section VIII, Division 1 with a National Board Regis-tration Number.7.1.3 Insulation CasingWhen insulation is required, itshall be contained in a cylindrical
43、 casing designed to conformto the kettle body and steam jacket. The clearance between theinner and outer liner of the casing shall be sufficiently wide tokeep the exterior surface of the kettle from exceeding 140F(60C) during operation. The outer liner shall be corrosion-resistant steel conforming t
44、o Specification A167, A176,orA240/A240M. The top of the casing shall be attached to thekettles canopy with stainless steel threaded fasteners or rivets.The bottom of the casing shall terminate below the steamjacket.7.1.4 CoversCover shall be designed so that it will notdeform as a result of normal u
45、se. Covers shall be provided witha handle as specified in 7.1.4.3. They shall be provided with ameans of ensuring that condensation returns to the kettle.7.1.4.1 One-Piece CoverNon-tilting, 20, 30, and 40-gal(75.7, 113.6, and 151.4-L) kettles shall be provided with aone-piece hinged or lift-off cove

If applicable, the construc-tion of the hinge shall be such that it will retain the cover in anopen position.7.1.4.2 One-Piece, Spring-Assisted CoverNon-tiltingkettles that are 60 gal (227.2 L) or larger shall have a one-piececover with a spring-assisted lift device to keep the cover openover the
47、 kettle in any position.7.1.4.3 HandlesThe handle should be raised from thecover and located so as to prevent injury to the operator. Thehandle shall be stainless steel and attached to the cover inaccordance with ANSI/NSF Std. 4. A heat-insulating grip shallbe provided on the handle. The surface of
48、the grip shall notexceed 120F (48.9C) during kettle operation when tested inaccordance with Section 10.7.1.5 Draw-Off AssemblyUnless otherwise specified, non-tilting kettles shall be provided with a minimum 2-in. (50.8-mm) diameter draw-off assembly located tangent with thelowest point inside the ke
49、ttle. Tilting kettles shall not beprovided with a draw-off assembly unless otherwise specified.The assembly shall consist of a tube, described in 7.1.5.1, anda sanitary valve, described in 7.1.5.2.7.1.5.1 TubeThe draw-off tube shall be formed of onepiece of seamless stainless steel tube and shall be welded to thebottom of the body and the steam jacket.
