2、r all Federal agencies. 1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) covers two types of high impact plastic tru-ers with or without trays. The type I trunk lockers are used in transporting and storing personal individual items, and the type II trunk lockers for transporting organizational equip
3、ment from garrisons to the field. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The trunk lockers shall conform to the following types and classes. All dimensions are the maximum outside dimensions in inches. Type I - 24-114 long by 20-1/4 wide by 12-1/2 deep (high) and 19 lbs., Max. Wt. with a Type II - 36-1/4 long by 18-114
4、 wide by 20-114 deep (high) and 31 Ibs., Max. Wt. with a minimum interior volume of 3.0 CU. fi. minimum interior volume of 5.0 CU. fi. Class 1 - Green (olive drab) Class 2 - Commercial Color Selection 3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 3.1 Description. The trunk locker shall be made of weather resistant hig
5、h impact durable plastic and constructed so as to keep water from entering the trunk locker. The lid shall open and close without binding, held in the open position by cover supports or other devices and shall not self- lock in the closed position. The trunk locker shall be totally functional under
6、the ambient temperatures of -40F to 140F. The trunk locker shall be designed to be padlocked, and have a minimum of two interlocking latches, and two molded handle grips. The latches shall be recessed from the outside edge of the body in the latched position. The handle grips shall be located one on
7、 each end, and shall be flush with the outside edge of the trunk locker. All hardware shall be constructed of non-corrosive materialsor coated to prevent corrosion. I), the trunk locker shall contain a separate internal nesting tray, or trays, two maximum, made of high impact plastic, and having a minimum depth of 1-1/2 inches for type I locker and 2-112 inches for the type II locker. The internal
10、tray(s) shall sit evenly in the trunk locker and shall not cause bulging, distortion of the sides, or prevent the lid from closing when seated in the trunk locker. 3.3 Color (“Government unique” requirement) (see 7.6). The color of the trunk locker (both exterior and interior surfaces) shall be eith
11、er Green (class 1 - Olive drab); or Commercial color (class 2) as specified (see 7.1 and 7.3). Trunk lockers of a specific lot shall not exhibit any variation in shade from the specific color selected and specified in the contract for that production lot. Class 2 trunk lockers shall not reflect a “G
12、ovemment unique” requirement for color. For class 2 trunk lockers, the color shall be selected from the manufacturers standard commercial colors and the selected color shall be cited in the contract or purchase order. When specified, the color of the internal trays shall match the color of the trunk
13、 locker. 3.4 Molded identification marking (LGovernment unique” requirement) (see 7.6). When specXed (see 7. i), the trunk lockers shall be furnished with identification information molded or embossed into the surface of the container body. 14、s Name Date of Manufacture 3, 4. REGULATORY REOUIREMENTS 4.1 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials should be used to the maximum extent possible provided that the material meets or exceeds the operational and mainte
15、nance requirements, and promotes economically advantageous life cycle costs. 5. OUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 5.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description except for any “Government unique” requirement specified, and shall c
16、onform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract or purchase order.
17、5.2 End item tests 5.2.1 Dro test. A trunk locker containing 30 pounds of weight for the type I, and 50 pounds of closed position, the trunk locker shall be dropped two consecutive times, once each on opposite comers, then dropped a third time on the bottom side (at an ambient temperature of 65F to
18、75F) from a height of four feet onto a smooth wooden surface without cracking, denting, or the lid opening. weight -+k- or e type II shall be used for the drop test. 19、cked shall be exposed to rainfall at a rate of 4 inches per hour for a period of 15 minutes. The presence of any water in the trunk locker shall constitute failure of the rain test. 5.3 Metric roducts. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an tolerances specified using con

If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable. The contracting officer has
22、 the option of accepting or rejecting the product. 5.4 Visual examination. Each trunk locker shall be examined for the defects listed below. 5.4.1 Defects. The trunk locker shall be free of holes, cracks, dents, malformation, or deep scratch- sharp edges, dirt, grease, and foreign matter shall be re
23、moved. Color shall be as specified; no part shall be significantly shaded or noticeably uneven in color. There shall be no significant spots or stains (outside). There shall be no defects affecting serviceability, durability, or appearance. The marking shall not be missing, incorrect, or illegible.
24、The measurements of the item shall be as specified. Items shall be packaged in accordance with the contract or purchase order. 5.5 Acceptance criteria. Acceptance criteria shall be as specified in the contract or purchase order. 6. PACKAGING 6.1 Preservation, packing, and marking. Preservation, pack
