Postal Service has announced in its Postal Bulletin PB 21635, dated September 3, 1987 that, effective January 1, 1988, it will adopt as official abbreviations the two-letter FIPS State Alpha Codes in Table 2 for Federated States of Micronesia, Marshal 1 Is1 a
5、nds, Northern Mariana Is1 ands, and Palau. The U.S. Postal Service already uses the corresponding FIPS State Alpha Codes in Table 2 as official abbreviations for American Samoa, Guam, Puerto-Rico, and Virgin Islands of the U.S. Specific Changes Page 1; paragraph 6e.
