、 ANSI/CEA Standard Fiber-Optic Channel Specification ANSI/CEA-709.4 February 2013 Note: This standard is the same as EIA-709.4, later renamed CEA-709.4, which was approved as an EIA standard in November 1999, and as an ANSI standard in August 2000. ANSI administratively withdrew it in 2010 due to la

The total

、 network length and number of nodes may be extended by use of ANSI/EIA-709.1-A compliant routers equipped with EIA-709.4 transceivers. The transmit signal is obtained by amplitude modulating the carrier frequency with a Differential Manchester signal, which is polarity insensitive. CEA-709.4 2Figure

、 1 Relation of Specification to EIA-709 Model 4 Channel Specifications The fiber-optic channel specifications address the media (fiber cables), the connector styles, the optical wavelength, the network topology, and the requirements for each individual node. 4.1 Optical Interconnect This section def

、ines options for fiber-optic cables and optical wavelengths. The cables listed in Table 1 shall be used for the network wiring. Cables shall use optical fiber that meets the specifications of ANSITIAEIA 492AAAA-A. The standard optical wavelengths are either 850 35 nanometers or 1320 35 nanometers. A

、ll links on a given network shall operate at the same wavelength. Application and (ii) a byte-sync field. The bit-sync field is a series of Differential Manchester “1”s. The byte-sync field is a single-bit Differential Manchester “0” that marks the end of the preamble and the beginning of the first

、byte of the LPDU/MPDU delivered to the physical layer by the data link layer/media access sub-layer. The emitter shall terminate the packet by forcing a Differential Manchester line code violation, i.e., it shall hold the data output transitionless long enough for the receiver(s) to recognize an inv

、alid bit code (line code violation). To the receiver(s), this shall signal the end of the packet. Specifically, at the end of packet transmission, the transmitted waveform shall remain transitionless for at least 1.30 microseconds after the final clock transition (excepting the final data transition

、, if present). The emitter shall ensure that no light is emitted during the idle periods between packets. The idle periods between packets include one Beta1 slot and a random number of Beta2 slots. For definitions of Beta1 and Beta2, see the EIA-709.1-A Control Network Protocol Specification 1. The

、timing of these periods is generated by the MAC sublayer of EIA-709.1-A. Timing values for the EIA-709.4 channel type are specified in Section 5 of this document. 5.2.2.2 Receive Mode Consistent with the PPDU format shown in Figure 6, the emitter/detector in receive mode shall accept a bit stream on

、 the medium in accordance with Figure 7. The receiver shall detect edge transitions during two windows for each bit period, T. The first window is at T/2, and determines if a “0” is being received. The second window is at T, and defines a “1”. The transition during the second window sets up the next

、 two windows at T/2 and T. The receiver shall receive data as long as transitions continue. Timing instability, or jitter, may be caused by changes in the communication medium, or instability in the input clocks of the transmitting or receiving nodes. The value of T/2 shall be 400 +/- 80 nanoseconds

、 and T shall be 800 +/- 80 nanoseconds. For the receiving node to reliably terminate reception of a packet, the received line-code violation period must have no transitions until the receiving node detects the end of the packet. The receiving node shall terminate a packet if no clock transitions are

、 detected after the last bit. The receiver shall ensure reception of data by the node under all conditions specified in this document. 22、tocol Processor Interface by controlling whether the Emitter/Detector is in receive mode or transmit mode. In transmit mode, the transceiver shall simultaneously send data from Emitter/Detector A and Emitter/Detector B. When not actively transmitting data, the transceiver shall place Emitter/Detecto
