2、s and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers five types of bootwalls. 1.2 Classification. The boot wall shall be of the following types and classes as specified (see 6.2). Type1 - SIBS, M577 Tracked Cannand Post Boot Wall Type II - SIBS, Rigid Wall Shelt

Components offered as equivalent to components specified hereinafter and on the referenced drawings as a specific manufacturers part or model number or equal, shall be functionally equal to the manufacturers mod
5、el number identified, and of equal or better quality. The incorporation and inclusion of such a component in the design of the specified end product shall not require modification or change to any other specified component, and shall not reduce ease of maintenance to it or any other components, unle
6、ss such modification or change is specially approved by the contracting officer. if none is required, prior to comnencing production, the contractor shall suhnit for the contracting officers approval, a list identifying each component, together with proof that each listed component carplies with req
7、uirements specified above. require a sample of the proposed substitution. Approval of the subitteci listing, together with the necessary supporting data, authorizes carmiencement of manufacture but does not relieve the contractor of responsibility that these components perform in accordance with spe

The design and construction for the type I boot wall shall conform to Drawing 5-4-
9、7484 and all subsidiary drawings and parts lists and as specified herein. 3.3.1.2 Type II. The design and construction for the type II boot wall shall conform to Drawing 5-4-8183 and all subsidiary drawings and parts lists and as specified herein. 3.3.1.3 Type III. The design and construction for th
10、e type III boot wall shall conform to Drawing 5-4-7409 and all subsidiary drawings and parts lists and as specified herein. 3.3.1.4 Type IV. The design and construction for the typ N boot wall shall conform to Drawing 5-4-8213 and all subsidiary drawings and parts lists and as specified herein. 3.3.

The design and construction for the type V boot wall shall conform to Drawing 5-4-8456 and all Subsidiary drawings and parts lists and as specified herein. 3.3.2 Fusinu of ends of synthetic cord, minu and tam. All ends of synthetic cord, webbing and tape shall be fused. the cord, webbing

All stitch types, except bartacking, shall conform to FED-SIP751 as follows: For all stitching except -
14、 Type 301, 5 to 7 stitches per inch zig-zag stitching and stitching indicated by “ZV1 on drawings For stitching indicated - Type 401, 5 to 7 stitches per inch - Chain portion of stitching shall not appear on by “Z“ on drawings outside of tent or cover For bartacking - Bartack, length as specified on

Thread breaks in stitching shall be overstitched not less than 1 inch at each break on stitch type 301; and not less than 1-1/2 inches at each break on stitch type 401. shall be overstitch

Autanatic stitching mchines may
21、 be used to perfom any of the required stitch pattern provided the requirements of the stitch pattern, stitches per inch, size and typ of thread are met, and at least three or more tying, overlapping or backstitches are used to secure the ends of the stitching. 3.3.3.7 Thread ends. All thread ends t
22、hat are visible on the finished item shall be trhned to a length of not mre than 1/2 inch. 3.3.3.8 Stitchina marq ins. unless otherwise specified, all stitch margins shall be 1/8 inch +1/16 -0 inch. 3.3.4 Eblicinq of cloth. Cemented patches shall be large enough to overlap the damaged area with a margin of at least 3/4 inch on all-sides, using cement per Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing 847 or equal (see 6.5). b. 31、be such that the overlap on each side of the kmn-through shall be equal to the width of the seam. c. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsibl
36、e for ensuring that all specified dimensions have been met. When dimencions cannot be examined on the end item, inspection shall be made at any pint or at all points in the manufacturing process necessary to ensure ampliance with all dimensional requiranents. 4.2 Classification of inswions. The insm
37、ion requirements specified herein are classified as follaws: a. b. First article inspection (see 4.3) Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4) 4.3 First article insmxtion. When a first article is required (see 3.1 and 6.2), it shall be examined for the defects specified in 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 and shall
38、be tested as specified in 4.4.5. any test shall be cause for rejection of-the first article. for inspection shall be performed in acconiance with MIL-SiD-105. Examination shall

A sample seam specimen of sufficient size to conduct testing in accordance with 3.3.7 shall be produced ea
